For what it's worth... My display had NOTHING in the blue area to subscribe to.. after seamole, howlin and topcat gave me an independent link to breaking news... it worked like a charm. I wonder if this has been tested for the LATEST version of IExplorer... Div tag confusion???
works now, so I it's alright.

Come to think of it the >first< time I looked for a link I didn't have it in the blue area. A few minutes later it looked like the server was down but a couple of more minutes and it caem back up. I did a "refresh" and there was the link on the blue area. JR probably took it offline and did a quick adjustment. When I found the link I just assumed it worked for everyone.
Live and learn:)

Well, if all y'all like this new beta, who am I to complain? It just seems a little unnecessary. What we had was good, I thought.
When asked, today, what I want for my birthday coming in a couple of weeks, I replied without hesitation, "Peace," it appears I'm gonna get a new Dell computer instead.
Will I have to re-register and all that jazz? Don't tell me to save to disk, please - my ancient 'puter doesn't like to do anything that even resembles common sense.

Did you know the flag was a small 120x75 image repeated? How would be a bandwidth hog? I just think your video card has trouble painting the flag or something

I have no name to click, your link allows me to get to the screen that I assume you are referring to but "my profile" says "no current freeper by that name" and "my preferences" doesnt relate to any of the problems Im having here.
What was wrong the "new" format we were using last week?

"Sometimes Breaking News is at the top, sometimes Front Page News, sometimes Announcements, sometimes something else. This is distracting. And now we can't even choose which categories appear on the right. Our only choice is to have them on or off."
My experience as well. Plus the sidebar is borderless, definitely not pleasing to my eye.

My only complaint is not being able to have breaking news at the top of my side bar.
I have tried all of the suggestions and the Breaking News is still at the bottom of the right hand side bar.
The biggest complaint I had was the ridiculous old California messages at the top of my comments page. It slowed down my new 1.8 ghz computer with 512 memory and other speed up goodies. So I went to my profile and removed California from my profile. Now I'm stateless, and the BS of old California messages is gone.
In my personal menus, I just have the basic headlines showing.
Now everything on most days is speeding along like before.
If John Robinson would just program Breaking News to be at the top or allow me to put Breaking News at the top of my Right Hand Side Bar, I just might increase my monthly donation to Free Republic.
