WASHINGTON A bare majority of the U.S. Supreme Court appeared likely Tuesday to let the Trump administration follow through on its plan to shut down DACA, the federal program that has allowed nearly 800,000 young people, known as dreamers, to avoid deportation and remain in the U.S.
With hundreds of DACA supporters rallying outside so many that police shut down the street in front of the Supreme Court the justices heard nearly an hour and a half of oral arguments. Based on their questions, it appeared that the court's five conservatives were inclined to rule that the Department of Homeland Security acted properly when it ordered the program ended in 2017 and that the federal courts cannot second-guess that decision.
While Justices Clarence Thomas, Samuel Alito, Neil Gorsuch, and Brett Kavanaugh appeared likely to say DACA was properly shut down, Chief Justice John Roberts did not seem to be as strongly convinced. Roberts may be the deciding vote, just as it was last term when the court blocked the Trump administration from adding a citizenship question to the 2020 census form. He concluded in that case that the government did not give an adequate explanation for its proposed action.

A bare majority
Is that Different than a majority?
Because if it’s not, then why the #### say it? :)
There’s no “let” here. Since when does the judiciary have any review authority over ending an EO? If a President can put in any EO another one can end it.
I’m afraid Roberts may be part of the COUP...
i agree with BOTH of your statements wholeheartedly.
There is no legal argument to continue DACA that would not shred the constitution.
ROFL!!
Barely is for children!!
The writer of this article sounds like a spoiled child that didn’t get their way.
If one President can act by executive order, it would be completely ridiculous that the next president cannot undo it in the same manner. If Trump cannot end it, the court would have to nullify Obamas actions as also unconstitutional. There is no other logical outcome.
Gee, he “gets” to end an unconstitutional non-law? That really mighty of them.
ITS WHOLESALE UNCONSTITUTIONAL!!! It should be a 9-0 vote to end it... but of course it won’t be.
What they’re not reporting is that the suit has nothing do do with the dreamers themselves. It is all about separation of powers. A program put into effect by an executive order of one president and ended by another president as it should be. The program should have been implemented by legislation, not by EO.
I was thinking that NBC Fake News was implying that the justices were voting without any clothes on.
So they would have to undo obama’s EO which would actually makes Trump’s happen :)
Head pain :)
Is EO even in the constitution?
Probably a stupid question but it won’t be my last :)
Executive orders can be rescinded by other presidents executive orders. Even lord grub obama did it.
If something is created by executive fiat it can be ended the same way. It was also extra-legal and should have been challenged immediately but our spineless RINOs refused to challenge ANYTHING obozo the lawless wannabe dictator did.
This should be pretty easy but after what happened in the Remington case earlier you NEVER know where these things will go.
When adults break the law the kids usually pay the price. These kids (many now adults) have only one set of people to be upset with: their parents.
LOL
That was pretty ####ing funny! :)
