Newt Gingrich said Friday that "you have to look at it very seriously, of course" regarding the possibility of being presumptive Republican nominee Donald Trump's running mate.

"I regard Donald as an old friend," Gingrich, the former Georgia representative who was House speaker from 1995 to 1999, told Bill O'Reilly on Fox News...

Newsmax reported Tuesday that Gingrich topped Trump's list of possible vice presidential choices. The developer said that he was seeking a partner while deep experience within Washington who could help him "with legislation, getting things through."

"There are a lot of very good candidates who know a great deal," Gingrich told O'Reilly...

Gingrich is pursuing it way too aggressively.

Dick Cheney 2= Gravitas. Old stuff is ancient history and he was an EFFECTIVE Speaker. Choseing him would set up a new Contract With Millennials.

I like Newt but not sure how he brings in votes, unless Trump wants to play it safe on the VP pick. Trump can get what Gingrich brings to the table by having him as Chief of Staff.

I don’t think he was pursuing it at all. He seemed rather smug and all smiley like he knows he has it.

I just hope he remembers to privately advise and publicly keep his mouth shut.

I would rather have Newt as Secretary of State.

In the second video below, check out the odds - Newt and Christie (4 to 1 odds) are favored to be VP. Apparently people in Europe are taking bets.

He is an action oriented individual.

Not many men would hand carry the divorce papers to their cancer stricken wife in the hospital.

What happened to looking for military service in the veep? Newt did not serve.

Maybe they could call it the divorce ticket: four divorces and six wives between them.

I’m not convinced any VP pick will deliver a state for Trump this year.
He may as well pick the best person for the position.

Here’s a thought to ponder. As Gingrich said, he and Trump are longtime friends. Could Gingrich be “out there” in order to divert attention from the real VP selection process? I could see Gingrich, with his skills, having much more flexibility in some other role.

Gingrich is pursuing it way too aggressively.

Different rules this time around. Gingrich would sooth some folks who are concerned about a lack of government knowledge and experience. Gingrich himself is okay on presenting "deals". He might also be able to placate old line conservatives, as he under stands philosophical conservative even though he himself is a post-Reagan futurist.

Trump will go with the one that will bring the most votes. I think that will be Cruz.

He was my congressman during his House Term. I have some very mixed feelings about him. I don’t want him in the line of succession but I also cannot ignore his ability, experience and knowledge of the House (and Senate) in dealing with scoundrels from both sides.

I think he’d be an excellent Chief of Staff or other administration position that isn’t a Constitutional line of succession.

Collectively, we as pissed off drive by Americans have an awfully big job in helping turn this country around. In helping to hog-tie and bind those bastards in the Congress to geld them and bring them to the will our founders intended. I think Newt knows those ropes very well and I think he’d be good at it.

John Bolton as SOS. Perfect choice. March the US out of the UN and the UN out of NYC.

Newt can advise in any capacity. Trump needs to win. I suggest a woman, conservative, Hispanic. Sussana Martinez, gov of NM has political experience and can advise first hand where the states are being messed with by the US to undo Obaminations.

Maybe until Trump tried explaining why Cruz was now eligible to be president. It would lose my vote for sure.

What are Trump’s three rules for working for him? I think, don’t lie to him, don’t steal from him, don’t embarrass him.

I think Cruz broke all three, a multitude of times.
