Former Alaska governor Sarah Palin joined the Today show to talk about her endorsement of Donald Trump as Iowans go to caucus tonight for the Republican presidential primary.
is was probably a tough call for you, between Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX)97% and Donald Trump, began Savannah Guthrie during the interview.
t wasnât tough,â Palin interrupted.
Really, Guthrie replied.
No, it wasnât tough, she repeated.
Palin explained that she was happy to endorse Ted Cruz in his Senate race, because he was a fighter for the American people but that she wanted him to stay in Washington D.C.
want to keep him in the Senate, and I want Donald Trump to be our president, she said.
Guthrie asked Palin if Trump was necessarily âthe godly candidateâ for evangelical voters.
I hope voters arenât trying to find the most Christian-y godliest candidate out there because who are we to judge one anotherâs level of faith â our Christian quotient if you will, she said.
Host Matt Lauer suggested that perhaps Donald Trump wasnât enough of a true conservative, citing his Democratic record.
Palin referred to Ronald Reagan, pointing out that she was âgladâ that Donald Trump was a candidate that had âseen the light.â
Later in the show, Palin was asked by co-host Willie Geist about what she brought to Donald Trumpâs campaign by endorsing him.
Iâm very, very conservative, very much a right-winger, proudly clinging to my God, my guns and my Constitution, she said. âI think I speak for a lot of Americans who have those same values.â

The e-mail account isn’t of course so important, although it certainly could have been, depending on what personal info she had in her messages. It just showed how dopey she could be at times.
Updated my profile and locale:-)
A little earlier I responded to an attack on Rush Limbaugh by a Cruz supporter. It makes no difference what your beliefs or conservative credentials are... if you have not pledged your allegiance to Ted Cruz, there are Cruz followers who will attack you. You don't have to make any derogatory statements against Cruz to be attacked. All you need to do is to voice your support for anyone other than Cruz.
This seems like a strange phenomena to me. If you have been following the nightly Free Republic Caucus, yesterday Trump support here made up approximately 68% of those who participated and Cruz support was down to 27%. Two and a half times more people who participated in yesterdays survey here on Free Republic supported Trump as compared to Cruz. We have a very vocal minority accusing all the rest of not being conservatives.
Or sending out letters to Iowans shaming them for their votes........
Yep, you're so right to let us know how dopey she is.
But I suppose she wouldn't have been dopey had she endorsed Cruz.
But then, we all understand your motivation here.
I’m moving support today from Cruz to whomever can first fix the mess our great site has become with the html issue.
Yes, of course the Trump endorsement is an example of her occasional dopiness.
:-)
Good luck to you sir (or Madame), have a nice day.
Correct.
Trump on the other hand...
And the last truly successful president.
Principles vs interests - we find now which one predominates with Sarah.
Cruz personifies what it means to embrace principles over interests. I want that guy.
“Sarah Palin’s main concern is staying in the media spotlight and having herself and her family in the reality show circuit. Trump is a better draw for media attention than Cruz, so naturally the choice wasn’t a difficult one for her.”
It saddens me to concur with your observation. She and her brood have devolved into reality show trailer park trash.
Old Sarah is a constitutional conservative??
Hmm, would a multi millionaire CC blame the govt for her sons alleged PTSD implying he didn’t get proper govt paid mental health, when mama bear has enough money to pay for 5 psychiatrists to provide around the clock care for her son for years.
Mama. Bear apparently wants to rely on the govt rather than taking personal responsibility. How “conservative” of her!!!
“It’s not the nature of the evidence, it’s the seriousness of the charge”
Reagan supported Truman in 1948 when he was President of the Screen Actors Guild and Truman was the pro-union guy. (Most Hollywood people either supported Republican Thomas Dewey or pro-Communist Henry Wallace.) That was the last Democrat he backed. He supported Eisenhower in 1952 and 1956 and Nixon in 1960. Robert Kennedy then got him fired as GE spokesman by promising GE huge government contracts.
I hate that I can’t agree with Sarah, but CRUZ OR LOSE!! LOL!
Some of us conservatives still care about issues.
If Cruz supported government run health care like Trump, Cruz would lose our support.
But issues don’t matter to the Trump cultists, he could shoot someone on 5th ave and the cultists would just nod their head.
Truth is truth.
My ‘testimony’ does speak volumes...Donald Trump is a fraud and by his own words is a flip flopping nutcase. Anyone who disagrees with him is called every name he can think of at the time. That is not a leader, that is a blowhard.
I can't stand Rubio and I'm still watching Cruz. To tell the truth I'm not sure there is one candidate that I am thrilled about.
too late!!!
lol

The Democratic party changed just as the Republican has/is changing in a little different way.
If you can find Hubert Humphry’s speech re: “The Family speech” it is a great conservative speech. (Have searched and failed to locate it.)
The Democratic party left me and now the Republican is or maybe has left (pun intended) me!!
