Former Alaska governor Sarah Palin joined the Today show to talk about her endorsement of Donald Trump as Iowans go to caucus tonight for the Republican presidential primary.
is was probably a tough call for you, between Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX)97% and Donald Trump, began Savannah Guthrie during the interview.
t wasnât tough,â Palin interrupted.
Really, Guthrie replied.
No, it wasnât tough, she repeated.
Palin explained that she was happy to endorse Ted Cruz in his Senate race, because he was a fighter for the American people but that she wanted him to stay in Washington D.C.
want to keep him in the Senate, and I want Donald Trump to be our president, she said.
Guthrie asked Palin if Trump was necessarily âthe godly candidateâ for evangelical voters.
I hope voters arenât trying to find the most Christian-y godliest candidate out there because who are we to judge one anotherâs level of faith â our Christian quotient if you will, she said.
Host Matt Lauer suggested that perhaps Donald Trump wasnât enough of a true conservative, citing his Democratic record.
Palin referred to Ronald Reagan, pointing out that she was âgladâ that Donald Trump was a candidate that had âseen the light.â
Later in the show, Palin was asked by co-host Willie Geist about what she brought to Donald Trumpâs campaign by endorsing him.
Iâm very, very conservative, very much a right-winger, proudly clinging to my God, my guns and my Constitution, she said. âI think I speak for a lot of Americans who have those same values.â

Oh the horror.....
Can you expound?
Palin also had an easy decision endorsing McCain.
What is your religious affiliation and of what evil are you publicly accusing Sarah Palin ? Are you following the money of Jim Robinson and FreeRepublic too ? ?

"People know something has gone terribly wrong with our government and it has gotten so far off track. But people also know that there is nothing wrong in America that a good old-fashioned election can't fix." Sarah Palin
Lol! True, but still. How could she select such obvious personal question given who she is. No one would want their private e-mail account hacked into.
I still love Sarah, but where does she think the White House is?
God forbid. I hope she has a change of heart. I tried to go see her once during McCain. We couldn't get there for the traffic jams. I'll never vote for an evil man with a good and lovely running mate again.
So Reagan was a movement Conservative for a full twenty years and had eight years of government executive experience before running for president. It's also worth mentioning that Reagan was the epitome of a happy warrior, never called any opponent names, and campaigned on the basis of ideas, not fantasies of Mexico paying for a border wall or a single payer health system. Sarah's entitled to her opinion and choice. And since she has had personal contact with Trump for at least the past couple years it's possible she is right about the man's sincerity. But her faith doesn't persuade me to change my opinion.
Payback for Trump or against Cruz? I seem to remember Cruz is one of the few who has steadfastly credited Palin for her help in his race. Unlike so many others who took the endorsement and money and then knifed her in the back later.
i dont think it’s that they think no one can change, but they, like I are wary.
Reagan Was a Governor with a voting record before being pres.
i’m voting for Trump in the generals, but Cruz in the primary.
so actually i’m hoping to vote for cruz in the generals but have always been a brutal realist ad he’s not going to win this time.
glad to see palin still likes him in the senate and perhaps she told him in 2024 she has his back
the last completely unapologetic Conservative president.
agreed.
but i will vote for him if he wins the primary
nice little education on Reagan :)
thanks
After shamegate? Lol. Yea because you were so torn between the 2 before then.
Reagan switched to the Republican Party in 1962. As noted elsewhere, he was never a liberal, but saw as early as 1962 that the Democratic Party was becoming more and more liberal. It was in 1962 that he proclaimed, “I didn’t leave the Democratic Party. The party left me.”
I guess the real point is that Reagan never espoused contemporary liberal ideals and that he had been a Republican for almost 18 years when he ran for president.
This is what has become known as “Sarah speak”. :)
So true. I stopped being torn after TPA and the Corker Bill.
Palin and Beck have this ongoing feud. It’s Personal with those 2.
No one ever accused old Sarah of being a deep thinker, but she does know how to look out for old Sarah and knows how to make $$$.
Always follow the $$$$.
