Mark Levin gave a stern warning to both Donald Trump over his recent attacks on Ben Carson and Marco Rubio for trying to smear Ted Cruz on the Gang of 8 immigration bill, telling them both that their attacks are unacceptable to him.
He told Trump that if he continued these reckless personal assaults on Carson, heâd have to affirmatively oppose him.
He pretty much said the same to Rubio, pointing out that he simply canât accept Rubioâs smear attacks on Ted Cruz and that it was his decision to support the Gang of 8 and he would have to live with it.
Hereâs the transcript of his comments:

Levin and Rush are supporting Carson because of his race. White Carson would have dropped by now.
I would say he just has the guts to tell people that the picture they already see is what it actually looks like, rather than couch it in happyfeelgoodmyfriendand compatriot terms.
Really, I remember Rush Walkergasms in Jan-Feb...Rush supports he just is clever how he uses his microphone time.
Yep, Levin is a true, lifelong, consistent conservative on every issue. What a shock that he wants to support a fellow, true, lifelong, consistent conservative like Cruz instead of a flip-flopping, twice-divorced, recently-registered-Democrat, Democrat-donating, inviting-Hillary-to-wedding, daughter-best-friends-with-Chelsea, New York, northeastern, left-leaning, moderate Republican like Trump. That’s like supporting Giuliani or Romney.
The only shock is that people on a conservative forum like this would ever support Trump over Cruz.
Very difficult for Cruz to win Iowa so long as Carson stays in the race, sponging off Evangelical voters. Carson is far ahead of Cruz in Iowa at the moment.
He has done that with several of the candidates, but still he NEVER endorses in a primary. Look, these guys are smart and they know their audience favors different candidates. To endorse right now - they would lose a huge chunk of their listeners. Cha-ching is the operative word here.
Then feel free to show me where Levin did not ultimately support the FOP choice, regardless of how liberal it was come election day and I will gladly admit and retract.
Mitt? Jonbon? Mitch? Nope. Never said ‘Don’t do it’. So good luck with that.
Thats three democrats that are and were lockstep with Obama and their records prove it.
You ain’t gonna believe this
I thought it was also odd, maybe two nights ago (right after Rubio started hitting Cruz on immigration) when he (Levin) said something to the effect of .... and, Rubio better watch it with his attacks against Cruz. We’re doing a piece over at CR that will refute everything Rubio is saying about Cruz.
My first thought was, Gee...nice to be Cruz and have a staff/blog/conservative host write up a rebuttal paper for you.
I get that they write whatever they want in support/against which ever candidate they want....but to flat out announce, beforehand, it seemed a bit shameless, to me.
If mark Levin is such a conservative force, please name 2 candidates he has successfully promoted for nomination.
Levin, Rush, and Hannity will be in the corner of whomever wins the nomination, same as always, which proves Norm’s point.
Matt Bevin and Ted Cruz come to mind.
Not me.
I think Cruz will win Iowa.
First, because Carson will be spilt milk by then and Carson and Cruz share the same evangelical base. That base dominate Iowa and their screwy process.
Secondly, he has a lot of hard money that he can spend organizing and GOV.
Cruz wins Iowa.
Then goes the way of Huckabee and Santorum.
Trump saw through Carson’s BS like a laser beam. Watch Trumps poll numbers rise as Carson’s go down. Watch Rubio’s & Cruz’s numbers rise but come no where near Trumps.
Then Trump will eviscerate Hillary.
Trump gets lucky again. He (needlessly) blows his top in Iowa...and Paris will make it all a distant memory.
I agree with Levin and I am a big Trump supporter . His tirades against Carson are coming off as petulant . Trump has said many times that he only attacks when and IF he is attacked . I cannot recall Carson ever attacking Trump for anything . On the contrary , Carson has had some of the best comportment of all the candidates in general .
Trump risks looking more and more like a wackadoodle and mean spirited . Not merely defending himself .
I will post write this , but it’s true .
Think I will post
At the end of the day his success in the mater takes a backseat to who he DID promote. If he was a conservative in deed and not merely word, he;d have stood up on principle and told his audience a simple truth. You do not get conservatism by electing liberal republicans.
There is nothing about that concept that should be remotely controversial. But he didn’t. He may as well have promoted GOP picks from day 1 because he ultimately, and always has, done so when the chips are down regardless of who it is. A party man to the core.
And a pressure relief valve.
You don’t know what you’re talking about.
I haven’t taken Levin seriously since the days he was pushing Rick Perry and Rick Santorum. What is it with Ricks, by the way?
Brilliant argument! The same argument that could be made for Obumble. Just because so many people support a candidate doesn’t mean he’s the best person for the job.
IMHO, the “right” (using the term loosely because Trump Toadies know they’re supporting a progressive) has its own version of LIVs. It’s not so much that they’re LIVs; it’s more that they want their little ears tickled and Donny’s more than happy to do that for them.
I haven’t seen such a destructive force on the Republican side since I’ve been actively involved in politics. Trump Toadies have savagely dissed some venerable conservatives on this site because they have taken issue with something Trump said or did. I’m seeing the same kind of adoration that I saw toward Obumble when people were fainting and hyperventilating. This Trump mania is unnatural. And scary as hell.
