Ted Cruz says that in Afghanistan, “I don’t believe we should be engaged in nation building.”
Cruz, appearing on NBC’s “Meet the Press” Sunday, blasted Barack Obama’s Afghanistan decision, insisting, “It’s a recognition that what the President has been saying for years, that Al Qaeda is decimated was never true. That it was political spin.”
“The reality is we live in an incredibly dangerous world and sadly the failures of the Obama/Clinton foreign policy have made the dangers greater,” Cruz claimed.
Todd later asked Cruz, “If you become President though, you’re gonna keep this policy in place of keeping those troops there in Afghanistan?”
“It will depend on the mission,” Cruz responded. “I don’t believe we should be engaged in nation building. I don’t believe we should be trying to transform foreign countries into democratic utopias, trying to turn Iraq into Switzerland. But I do think it is the job of our military to protect this country, to hunt down and kill jihadists who would murder us.”
Once again, he’s right on the money.
Let's do a little perfecting of this union for a little while.
One more reason he’s snagging Paul voters for the right reasons.
Helping friendly people - yes ok good. Helping enemies - no damned way - and we have to stop tge enemy wgrnt in our WH before he succeeds in enabling our islamonazi enemies to have USA blanketed with nuclear icbm’s.
It’s easy to say, but in reality not nation building works out badly too. We walked away from Afghanistan and that didn’t work out so well. At least nation building there’s a chance to let the good guys win, if you can find some.
Ps: I’m convinced we cannot succeed in nation building of our enemies. At least the islamics they are insane mass- murderers to begin with and if they’re suddenly “peace- like” they’re only collecting our money and weapons waiting until they cen attack us again.
Boom!
We’ve been more in the business of nation destruction via proxies (under the leadership at State of Clinton and Kerry) the last few years rather than nation building in an overt and direct way.
We also need to toss out the Soroses and Brzezinskis and their style of nation building. We should have a new slate of conservative foreign policy thinkers in any Presidential administration.
Know that with any Democratic administration, the faces in the back room will not change.
The only nation building we should do is rebuild our own.
It's good to hear this from Ted Cruz, but history tells us never to trust these inside-the-Beltway pr!cks.
And that means any of them.
WE don't and..
We don't
Amen!
You’re totally right. Just look at South Korea, Germany, Japan, etc... complete basket case countries!
Good point. (None of those countries were or are Moslem, though)
Before the Islamic revolutions, Baghdad and Kabul were like many western cities.
I used to be the biggest hawk but I don't think it is worth one life or limb of our armed forces to fight there.
Protect our borders and eradicate the Muzzie training camps in the US.
Well, we also reduced the two Latter Countries to True and Absolute Ruin!
Told them to "Knock this War Sh!t off!"
Because of that we completely changed their societies.
We could Change Afghanistan, but that would require Nuking the Entire Site from Orbit and reeducationing everyone under the age of 12 to our way of thinking.
Jordan is an example of a fairly stable Islamic country. What have they done right?
If you are owned by your campaign donors there is little you can do, but what they ask.
This is New World Order agenda. Democrats & GOPe are not interested in a sovern US.
