Barack and Michelle Obama, speaking to People Magazine, of all disappointments, shared the disheartening news that they have experienced what they called racism. Barack, for example, apparently has had trouble, before he was president, hailing a cab in Chicago, to which an immediate thought might occur to anyone who has been to Chicago: Who hasn't?
Also, Barack, at a black-tie event, when he, too, was in festive livery, apparently was asked by another guest if he would get them a cup of coffee.
For her recollection, Michelle came up with a visit to a Target store as first lady. She said she was asked by another shopper to get something off a shelf.
The Obamas seemed to have conjured up stereotypes from about 1922. They are intimating that, because they are black, they were deemed to be subservient. I imagine the readers of People Magazine are supposed to hear the word "fetch" when Obama was asked to get somebody a cup of coffee.
How this is supposed to help heal racial enmity is beyond my comprehension.

Pos Obama doesn’t qualify to serve coffee.
And soooo down with the hood, jes’ folks, doncha know?
Oh the horror! It just occurred to me that the same racism was alive in my grandpa’s household.
Everytime grandpa asked grandma to “get me a cup of coffee”, she rebuked him with a “do I look like your ni66a slave”. He would reply “that’s all white (he had a speech impediment), I’ll do it myself”. After a pause, grandma replied “Naw, sit down, I’ll get one of the ni66as to do it”. Then she would go to kitchen and get grandpa’s coffee and take it to him. Grandpa would smile at grandma and say “Thanks, that was mighty white of you”.
BTW, grandpa liked to listen to that Red Foley tune “Chattanooga Shoeshine Boy”. Me, I like kind of like that tune “Play That Funky Music Whiteboy”. Grandpa was a racist so I guess that makes me one too.
I want to thank the Obama’s for digging up guilt based on the indescretions of a past generation.
They love to talk about serving the people, but get mad when asked to do something.
Don’t bet on it. I went on vacation out in Rancho Mirage and ended up being given access to the area where the President and the King of Jordan had met and where the King of Jordan still was.
We had were told we were in the safest place in the world.
Forgive the bad typing.
The Obama’s own a friggin mansion in Chicago and live in the White House. Obama went to a private schools and lived with a grandmother who was a bank President.... and they still cry for themselves? I’m so embarrassed for them... it’s disgusting.
Then again Jimmah Carter complained about having lust in his heart - which was easily as creepy as the Obama’s. Must be a democrat thing. And tears he cried for himself after running from some giant rabbit... sad Jimmah - sad sad sad Jimmah.
Oh and the poor Clinton’s who had the vast right wing conspiracy out there saying Bill was boinking a young girl - an intern in the office. Power disparity and all... The Clinton’s cried a river for themselves... (getting caught in that kind of lie is so sad) How could they NOT cry for themselves?
And Lieawatha... a poor indian girl just wanting a cheap education... Oh boo hoo, boo hoo... Democrats suffer so much...
I rode the bus in my dress blues once and was asked if I knew the schedule for the next bus. Seems like out uniforms looked like the ones Greyhound used to wear. Funny but took no offense.
If youd like to be on or off, please FR mail me.

Well, the Obama’s drool their money when they speak, so I don’t feel great to hear them. Feel kind of bad to think they may very well have taught their kids to be brats though.
Me too, although part of the confusion probably was the fact that I used to work at a store I sometimes go to while visiting my parents, either way, it’s just good manners to help some elderly customer reach something on a shelf, right?
It’s a liberal thing... besides the children are charming. Both Obamas are doing a nice job as parents. It’s probably the only thing I like about the first couple - loving responsible parents. Good role models for all Americans in that one area...
I really do hope so, and from what I see, the input is positive, but the divisive and partisan rhetoric is not a decent example for either children or nation. That is not to say that a father guarantees his children will follow perfectly, after all, being the child of an atheist but who decided on religion myself, that says something, but hopefully the best, prepare for the worst.
