Btw, I don’t want a Super Congress and I don’t want pretend spending cuts.

Obama isn’t willing to settle for anything less than what *he* wants. He may make noises otherwise, but he won’t actually compromise in any significant way.

By the way, this is two strikes for him, he’s been presented with two bipartisan options and denied them both.

This is a BIG political blunder. Obama now owns a default if it happens (I'm betting he'll pay the debt service no matter what) and a credit downgrade.

Worse than the political fall-out, we already know his ideas are bankrupt, will be the revelation that he was not worthy of being liked. Things like "he is destroying our economy INTENTIONALLY" now become quite believable to the masses, instead of just being a marginal conservative opinion. Rush is now vindicated for saying "I hope he fails".

Pincer move all along apparently.

Barky doesn’t care which way it goes: catastrophe for the country or catastrophe for the Republicans.

Either way, he’s got the MSM ready to spin it for his win.

He’s just batting at us like a cat with a mouse. He can kill him now or later. Later is more fun.

and the President said no.

Doesn't the president buy the Aug 2-Default-Calamity scare tactics that he himself has been touting?

Not sure how this is a cave. A short-term increase is what Obama initially DIDN’T want...which is why he said no...but it means we’re wearing him down.

TELL THEM TO STOP PLAYING AROUND WITH SENDING PLANS TO THE WHITE HOUSE.

GET THE BILL(S) ON THE SENATE FLOOR, VOTE AND PASS, AND LET THE BASTARD VETO THEM.

REID IS AN OBSTRUCTIONIST....USEFUL IDIOT!

That tares it. House & Senate need to pass this bill today and hold press conference saying they have done their work. If Obama vetoes, then start impeachment hearings. I am serious.

Debt “crisis” Facts
The S&P and Moody's rating agencies take cash for the service of rating companies, These companies rated AIG, Lehman, Bear Stearn's, and all the Fannie Mae derivatives AAA, If a ratings downgrade happens, it will be POLITICAL and payoff driven. Conversely if it is inconvenient to political powers, the downgrade will not happen.

If Obama decides to stop SS checks, that too will be gaming events, as approx. $230 Bil. in revenues flows to treasury each month, and SS Checks only amount to about $20 Bil.

The House should pass it and leave. Let the Senate and White House hit a brick wall if they are so determined to be obtuse.

What is really bothering me is 75% of the people (CNN poll even) support a balanced budget amendment, and they also support by close to that amount term limits on the legislative branch.

There are currently what, 29 Republican governors, and at least as many upper and lower houses in the states? Can’t they put together enough moderate Democrat governors and legislatures to call for a Constitutional Convention and let the 50 states decide? This way they can put it to all the states to ratify, completely bypassing both the executive and legislative branches at the federal level.

The states have true power in this process, and they are the ones having it taken by Washington every day. It will only take 3/4 of the states to ratify this, I can’t believe that this can’t get done with the turmoil in Washington right now, its not even being talked about!!

Put a smackdown on both parties at the federal level and especially the president. Put a balanced budget amendment and a term limits amendment up for vote, its what the people want. Washington refuses to limit themselves and the states will go down right along with Washington, even the ones working their asses off to remain in the black and be fiscally responsible are getting hurt big-time by Obama.

Term limits should be 6 in the house and 2 in the senate lifetime, IMHO.

Obambi knows that if this plays out, the GOP will be blamed. He is angry, and wants them to suffer. He wants to win it all, and will crash the economy to do it.

Don't negotiate with a mad man. Obama has some of the same metal issues that my mother has. Once they crack, they will destroy everything rather than concede a point.

The Cut Cap and Balance bill is still on the table in the Senate.

They should get it on the floor, debate and vote on it, and send it to the president. There has been enough negotiating.

If he fails to sign it, go for a veto overide and stick it to him.

The House should send this deal that Reid agreed to, on to the Senate, then leave town.
