I might be cynical but maybe, just maybe, this has more to do with his political stance than anything else...I don't know you be the judge.

Yes and no. He is a very polarizing figure people seem to love him or hate him. The fact that he is very outspoken about his beliefs adds to that, along with playing for UF, and compiling all those statistics, championships, and awards in what many view as a “gimmick” offense.

In the contemporary world, politics is a disease that affects every aspect of life. Tebow is a tremendous athlete and clearly is a superior QB. He has a gun for an arm, can run if need be, and is large and tall. I don’t see any better in the field this year.

I just read that article and called my dad to tell him about it....funny, but there was absolutely nothing about him bombing in this morning’s Mobile Press Register...though, in the article they talk about Tebow’s wobbly passes and I’ve always noticed that about him - and it was always obvious in instant replays/slo-mo! I hope he succeeds in the NFL because it’s pretty obvious that he’s a great person and someone that young people should look up to, I just have my doubts....

No it doesn’t. Tebow is not a top tier pro prospect, this has been known for some time and discussed throughout the year. His mechanics and accuracy are big questions.

What, that he doesn’t like to stand that closely behind another man?

As a Niners fan, Alex Smith came to the team from the same situation, and he does function better in the shotgun than under center. No comment on the 5 different offensive coordinators in 5 years.

I still wish they had taken local boy Aaron Rogers in the draft.

I posted this to the thread about pro-abortion groups protesting CBS for carrying a commercial of Tim and his mom. Seems to fit here also:

The media, whether it be print or visual, including the sports media, will vilify Tebow at every turn. They jump him for his religious and political beliefs or his unorthodox way of delivering a pass. Or, as in the sports media, both! Go Tim!

What is the point of the short snap anyway? I think it made sense in the past as a means of concealing pass vs. run as long as possible, but the whole game is based much more on passing than it was, and it seems to me that forcing the QB to turn his back and waste time backing up detracts from his seeing the field and his receivers. How many times do defenses not know the QB is likely to pass? Who is fooled anymore by the short snap?

That and the fact that he unabashedly and publicly takes that stance...

...Tebow seems like a nice kid....but when this season started the sporting media acted like he was the Obama of college football...they couldn’t sing his praises loud enough...personally, I had Tebow fatigue by early October...looks like we’ll see if he’s the real deal soon enough.

In a league where Ryan Leaf and JaMarcus Russell can get drafted high, Tebow deserves at least a shot.

It is all about him being an unapologetic Christian, plain and simple. If Tebow were black, he'd be praised in every possible way.

As for fumbling snaps, etc., even the best NFL QBs do it. It just happens, especially if the snapper and QB haven't played together. I'm not worried about Tebow in the NFL. He'll be just fine. The kid has more drive and passion than most in the NFL already. His throwing motion is much maligned as well. But it isn't any worse than some NFL QBs like Vick, Young, Rivers, etc. Coming out of college, I thought Vince Youngs prolonged throwing motion was the biggest issue with his mechanics. He's faired quite well.

The NFL is guilty of trying to put all its players in the convenient 'box' of skills, mechanics, etc. Perhaps that's necessary. But they can't measure the heart, drive and desire to succeed.

Tebow will be a huge value pick for any team that selects him (and I have a strange feeling it will be the Colts).

And if Tebow doesn't make it in the NFL, I'm sure he's fine with that too. He lives his faith, and knows it will point him in the right direction, whatever that may be.

Whether he makes it in the NFL or not (and I think he will), he's already won.

What timing for Yahoo....Right before the Super Bowl when he will be in a “pro life” ad. Remember, what Jesus said, “All men will hate you because of me, but he who stands firm to the end will be saved.” Matt 10:22

Questions about his ability to become a first tier quarterback in the NFL have been dogging him for years now. Well before most of the world knew about his politics.

I have not heard many football pundits calling him a future qb star in the nfl, have you?

I have heard much speculation about him becoming a receiver, something that happens to a few qbs coming out of college. Of course, they weren’t Heisman trophy, national championship quarterbacks, but quarterbacks all the same.

Naw. It has to do with the fact that quarterbacks that thrive in spread offenses tend not to be top tier pro prospects.

If you watched the Senior Bowl last year, Pat White went through the same controversy, even though he probably ended up doing better overall (he was MVP) than Tebow looks like he will do at this point.

Comes with the territory. Pat stuck it out and ended up getting drafted as a QB. Depending on how much work Tebow is willing to do, the same might be true for him.

Even so, there is still controversy swirling around White’s decision to remain at quarterback instead of converting to wide receiver.

Getting clocked by Ike Taylor and coming out with a nasty concussion versus the Steelers probably didn’t help Pat much either.

You can criticize Tebow’s mechanics, or the fact that he takes snaps from the shotgun, and you can call the Florida offense “gimmick”, but all he does is win - more wins than anyone in the toughest conference in the Country, The SEC.
