PELOSI: Buy a $15,000 Policy or Go to Jail
http://republicans.waysandmeans.house.gov ^

Today, Ranking Member of the House Ways and Means Committee Dave Camp (R-MI) released a letter from the non-partisan Joint Committee on Taxation (JCT) confirming that the failure to comply with the individual mandate to buy health insurance contained in the Pelosi health care bill (H.R. 3962, as amended) could land people in jail. The JCT letter makes clear that Americans who do not maintain “acceptable health insurance coverage” and who choose not to pay the bill’s new individual mandate tax (generally 2.5% of income), are subject to numerous civil and criminal penalties, including criminal fines of up to $250,000 and imprisonment of up to five years.

In response to the JCT letter, Camp said: “This is the ultimate example of the Democrats’ command-and-control style of governing – buy what we tell you or go to jail. It is outrageous and it should be stopped immediately.”

Key excerpts from the JCT letter appear below:

“H.R. 3962 provides that an individual (or a husband and wife in the case of a joint return) who does not, at any time during the taxable year, maintain acceptable health insurance coverage for himself or herself and each of his or her qualifying children is subject to an additional tax.” [page 1]

“If the government determines that the taxpayer’s unpaid tax liability results from willful behavior, the following penalties could apply…” [page 2]

“Criminal penalties

I think they’re gonna need more prisons if that’s how it’s going to be.

I’ve said for a long time that this woman is mentally ill. This is confirmation. Let’s pull a Gerald Walpin on her. (Remember, he’s the good guy who was ousted because of his supposed “cognitive” issues. It was really because he disagreed with the little ballerina. And Glenn Beck gave him an Alzheimer’s test on his show, which GW passed with a 100.)

You certainly sound smart to me. Bottom line: If you have the temerity and thoughtlessness to LIVE, you’re going to be penalized for it. This bill is literally a punishment on life itself—except for the Dems with their Cadillac, lifelong plans, that is. Pelosi will NEVER stand in a government line for ANYTHING. She will never be told “No” by a bureaucrat. If she has so much as a hangnail between today and the day she dies, she will be treated like a queen. This imperialism is why I say she is mentally unhinged and quite ill.

There are a lot of reasons to oppose this bill, there are a lot of reasons to burn up the phone and fax lines.

The reality is it is BAD for AMERICA.

Yep, the GOP suck. Absolutely useless and apparently the word “conservatism” has been struck from the GOP’s dictionary.

Let’s see.

No work, 3 squares a day, free internet, volley ball, gym, and free health & dental care for the rest of my stay.

No brainer. I’m going to jail. WTF, all of my friends will be there too.

Then who’s going to pay taxes and your inflated salary, Pelosi, you decrepid witch!!!

I find this funny considering they can’t afford the jails they have now and in fact are releasing many non-violent prisoners they have now. This is just a threat. It won’t happen at least while we don’t have any money.

No need to be an ass about it.

WOW! Did I forget my sarcasm tag?

No need to get all wee wee'd up about it either, noobie.

In the days to come, it will be hard to be “unconstitutional” when the new law has not yet been written down and the judiciary consists of folks who are making rulings on their feelings.

Well, when there aren’t enough criminals, one makes them. One declares so many things to be a crime that it becomes impossible for men to live without breaking laws.

Perfect! Thanks for posting.

They won’t put you in jail-they’ll take the money right out of your paycheck like they say they’ll do if you do not pay back your college stafford loans. So many kids getting gov’t school loans will be owned by the government. Paperwork, paperwork, we’ve got documentation!

Right now I can negotiate with my doctor and even the hospital if need be on the pricing for services. Five years ago when I need hospital grade medical services, I discovered that one could call the hospital billing departments and negotiate anywhere from a 10% to 75% discount on services(even if you were as much as 130+% over poverty level). No government involvement.

Shhhhhhh! Don't tell anybody! That'll blow their BIG LIE about how MILLIONS can't afford or have access to healthcare!

For what's it's worth, that's how I do biz with hospitals and drs. offices, too!

Since I will be faced with EITHER paying for health insurance I won’t use, or trying to maintain my mortgage on a third of what I earned in the previous 15 years, I am grateful that Ms. Pelosi has provided me a safety net in the form of 3 hots and a cot, and free medical care with all utilties paid. At last, no cold nose and fingertips in the winter at 62 degrees, or summer sweltering at 78 degrees, on my dime. I can rest assured that after I default on my GI loan, U.S. taxpayers will only just be beginning to pay for my comfort and ease. I’m headed for 72-Degreeland, baybay!

Which is a good thing, because I figure after I’ve defaulted, my credit won’t be worth a damn anyway, and I’m otherwise destined to die penniless and alone. Now I am assured of living my dotage among friends in Ms. Pelosi’s debtors prisons, defended from a shivving in the middle of the night by other harmless nonviolent offenders who were simply convicted of spending their wages on food and shelter in the free market like me, instead of on health insurance.

F’it, I’m not even gonna hire a lawyer. The sooner I’m inprisoned, the sooner I can stop struggling to make an honest living. The rest of you fools who haven’t been downsized are welcome to contribute to my upkeep. Y’all work harder, I need a bigger TV and broadband. I could stand the upgrade since I won’t be paying for it, y’know.

I suppose the only place to get such a policy would either be from the Government or from approved brokers would would be ‘encouraged’ to donate heavily to the Democrat Party.

I wonder if Nance put any thought (LOL) into what jail these scallywag non-insurance payin criminals would go to? There’s no room for that. Just another dilusional statement from someone with FAR too much power. Sickening twit.
