Blogger admits Hawaii birth certificate forgery, subverting Obama claims (Uh-oh)

Jay McKinnon, a self-described Department of Homeland Security-trained document specialist, has implicated himself in the production of fraudulent Hawaii birth certificate images similar to the one endorsed as genuine by the Barack Obama campaign, and appearing on the same blog entry where the supposedly authentic document appears.

The evidence of forgery and manipulation of images of official documents, triggered by Israel Insider's revelation of the collection of Hawaii birth certificate images on the Photobucket site and the detective work of independent investigative journalists and imaging professionals in the three weeks since the publication of the images, implicate the Daily Kos, an extreme left blog site, and the Obama campaign, in misleading the public with official-looking but manipulated document images of doubtful provenance.

The perceived unreliability of the image has provoked petitions and widespread demands for Obama to submit for objective inspection the paper versions of the "birth certificate" he claimed in his book Dreams from My Father was in his possession, as well as the paper version of the Certificate of Live Birth for which the image on the Daily Kos and the Obama "Fight the Smears" website was supposedly generated.

Without a valid birth certificate, Obama cannot prove he fulfills the "natural born citizen" requirement of the Constitution, throwing into doubt his eligibility to run for President.

McKinnon, who says he is 25-30 years old, operates a website called OpenDNA.com and uses the OpenDNA screen name on various web sites and blogs, including his comments and diary on The Daily Kos. In recent years he has divided his time between Long Beach, California and Vancouver, British Columbia. He is a Democratic political activist, frequent contributor to the left wing Daily Kos blog, and a fervent Barack Obama supporter.

We have had a lot of people on this thread ask sarcastically Why would she go to Kenya to give birth?

Barack Obama Sr. was a Muslim and it is a Muslim tradition to give birth in the parents' home which would have been in Kenya.

Your peoplefinders site and ancestry.com site state that Maya is 36 years old. That would mean they are using a birth date of 71 I think in the calculation. If she was born in 1970 she would be 37 years old.

This reflects directly on McKinnon’s (aka opendna) honesty about his involvement and personal credibility.

I believe he has not been factual or fully disclosed his actual involvement with either the KOS or Fight The Smears versions of the birth certificate documents. He knows this situation has not only blown up and is now out of his control, but there is also a real possibility he has validated several laws, both state and federal.

SE Mom and all FReepers, kept up the good investigative work, as this is diffidently not a “Case Closed” situation or the time to “just move on”, nor will it be until Mr. Obama can demonstrate to all citizens the actual status of his citizenship.

The location of the wedding was Honolulu Hawaii, where they both were students during that semester. Nothing happened in Kenya. She was never there.

Do you have any evidence of any nature that is the case?

If you can't come up with some off the cuff, the way you locate it is go to the local library and find copies of the December 1960 and January and February 1961 copies of the local Hawaii newspapers; locate the Vital Statistics pages; and look for a marriage in any form of Barrack H. Obama and Stanley Ann Dunham.

Meanwhile, I am looking in Mombasa and Nairobi and bet I find a record before you do! Best of Luck.

According to the Chicago Tribune, divorce of Obama Sr. and Stanley Ann occurred in 1964. Where and when—presumably Honolulu but I have not yet found that in the record; nor I have seen the actual date in 1964.

This April 9, 2008 Time Magazine story is specific as to the marriage date:

"On Feb. 2, 1961, several months after they met, Obama's parents got married in Maui, according to divorce records. It was a Thursday. At that point, Ann was three months pregnant with Barack Obama II. Friends did not learn of the wedding until afterward. "Nobody was invited," says Abercrombie. The motivations behind the marriage remain a mystery, even to Obama. "I never probed my mother about the details. Did they decide to get married because she was already pregnant? Or did he propose to her in the traditional, formal way?" Obama wonders. 'I suppose, had she not passed away, I would have asked more.'"

Note that the wedding date is taken from the divorce record; I've read elsewhere (but don't have the specific link) that the marriage certificate can't be found.

He knows this situation has not only blown up and is now out of his control, but there is also a real possibility he has validated several laws, both state and federal.

That observation nails the fundamental problem with McKinnon's "story". It needs to repeated throughout the blogosphere. This thing has spun out entirely out of his control and now he's looking for cover.

I think this is the underlying reason that the all important certification number is entirely blacked out. The CoLB never had one.

What a great group of people. I know everyone else has a lot to do--I'm in a high-pressure business; if I wasn't having a good time, I would do something else. But I appreciate the help a lot.

I too have read elsewhere that the wedding certificate cannot be found; I haven't read the married in Maui point. I wonder where newspaper Vital Statistics for Maui are to be found.

If you found it in a Vital Statistics column, you would be tempted to believe it even if you didn't find the certificate. I don't know what the law in Hawaii is; in the states in which I am admitted, filing the certificate is mandatory on the person who performs the marriage.

I'm locked into my view that they got married in Kenya--it's a mistake to approach the facts that way because if you keep looking for the real facts the entire story ultimately comes out.

Here, counsel in the divorce proceeding pleaded Maui which is probably what his client told him; failure to find the filing is probably pretty good evidence that it didn't happen there unless you find Vital Statistics showing that it did.
