I don’t know why people find this so surprising.

You do not get to a position of power, like being a US Senator, without the backing of the party. The Party picked McCain, now anyone who want anything from the Party will back McCain. I am surprised Thomspon sold out. I thought he meant it when he said he was done with politics. But I guess running for Pres lite the fever in him. Wonder what he got for this?

Simply amazing to watch and see how divorced from their base the Party Establishment has gotten,. Think it maybe has reached a crises point with McCain and this election. Going to be an interesting year to watch. The ONE saving grace maybe it is starting to look as if the Democrats are even MORE screwed up then the GOP. I did not think that was possible.

Thanks for the giggle. I agree.

I finally figured out why all these McCain’s articles are ticking Freepers off so bad.

They are all trying to sell us a McCain we all know doesn’t really exist. They cannot spin people like us because of our superior knowledge of their candidate’s history. When they try to spin us, we get insulted and angered because we know the information they are providing is misleading at best, and in many cases borders on a lie.

They would be much better off to simply walk away from us for awhile. All they are doing with this blare of Pro McCain pimping is pissing us off

Yeah, the McCainics would be wise to just lie low. I have no dobut the Democrat campaign will scare most Conservatives into supporting McCain

Their best bet is just to let the Democrats do their recruiting for them. After all, the Democrats are doing their level best to run McGovern 2.0 this year. Since the Repbos are running Nixon 2.0, they might actually have a chance of winning in Nov after all!

But during the purges, and afterwards, it seemed that the BIG ISSUE, the deal-breaker for FReepers, was abortion. That's reasonable - my guy was deeply confused and unable to lead on that issue. My question is, why doesn't McCain's consistent pro-life talk and walk buy him an ounce of cred around here? If the issue is big enough to sink a candidate, why isn't it big enough to catch McCain a break?

Rudy's biggest problem was abortion. Rudy should have admitted that he was wrong and come out against Roe v. Wade. Rudy didn't do that and that was his undoing (as I predicted).

So now we have McCain. McCain's biggest problem is his amnesty bill. Will McCain now admit that he was wrong and come out against amnesty?

I can tell you this. If he doesn't come out against amnesty, he has no chance.

“RINO FRomnbey calls Hunk “the Hickster”

I guess a real Washington insider...city slicker would know..”

Yes, Nana, all Hunter supporters called Huck that and worse until Hunter supported him. Hunter’s endorsement didn’t change what Huck is, a con artist, and he conned Hunter or Hunter wasn’t the man we all thought he was in the first place.

Well he has said in debates it was a mistake. The the people do not trust Washington on this and he would now secure the border first. Problem for McCain is, Can we believe him?

Well stated. Everyone's saying how much Hillary will energize conservatives, but don't count Obama out as a terrible candidate.

God knows all about terrorist threats, wars and rumors of wars. His Word warns that the heathen will rage, secular powers will try to outlaw Christianity, and fast-growing, anti-Christ movements will boast they'll rule the world and destroy Jesus' followers. And the Bible says this about all of that.

"The Kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the Lord and against His own, saying Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us" PSALM 2 vs 2,3

In short, Let's cast away all moral hindrances, all moral landmarks of the past. The above scripture tells exactly what has happened in this election. They 'set' themselves who the candidates will be, they broke our band w/them and cast us aside.

If I can be called anything here during the last six months, it would have been a FredHead, so here goes an appropriate response to your post:

I am happy for Thompson’s backing of McCain, and I hope it is the first step toward his being asked to run as VP.

I would enthusiastically support McCain if he were to engineer such a ticket. I would like McCain/Hunter even more.

Fred was in the race to win. He realized after SC that he wasn’t going to make it. Not enough support, money, and his mom’s illness just helped him make the quality decision to leave the race.

Fred did not come out and endorse anyone. He said he would not endorse. He STILL has not ENDORSED. He is rallying around the Republican nominee, that’s all.

McCain has not won the nomination yet. It is believed that he will, and unless Huckabee pulls off too many delegates in the remaining primary races, McCain will be the nominee. Everyone says that is to be, and I believe McCain will be the nominee.

McCain’s choice of VP will be VERY IMPORTANT if there is a chance for the DEMS to be overcome. I hope and pray that the VP will make it possible for our side to keep the White House!

Not voting allows the DEMS to win! Even in the primary race, staying home will accomplish nothing. Everyone should vote for their favorite or vote for one of the candidates left in the primary race. Please vote!

I suppose I’ll ask Earthdweller for career writing advice rather than you. But your response mixed with the others shows that it was actually a very effective piece of writing.

Are you the type of guy who goes onto a Unicorn Admirer website and tell them that they have to give up their Unicorn ethics so that the predators can be in charge?
