So now we have McCain. McCain's biggest problem is his amnesty bill. Will McCain now admit that he was wrong and come out against amnesty?

Well he has said in debates it was a mistake. The the people do not trust Washington on this and he would now secure the border first. Problem for McCain is, Can we believe him?

No, we can’t. Any time he talks he says “secure the borders”. I have yet to hear ANYTHING about the current illegals here NOR anything about enforcing the current law. Unless I missed something, his silence in that regard speaks volumes.

Yes, even if McCain changes his position, do we believe him? Anyway, McCain's words about illegal immigration at CPAC were good but did they go far enough?

"I accept that, and have pledged that it would be among my highest priorities to secure our borders first, and only after we achieved widespread consensus that our borders are secure, would we address other aspects of the problem in a wa y that defends the rule of law and does not encourage another wave of illegal immigration".

McCain does mention the important idea, that our actions shouldn't encourage new waves of illegal immigration. But he doesn't mention and connect his former bill's visa amnesty as something that would encourage additional waves of illegals.

McCain should make that clear.
