NEW YORK (Reuters) - Two black shoppers have sued Toys "R" Us saying they were subjected to racial discrimination and unjustified scrutiny at a store in New York.

“I’d much prefer coming home late with a knife on my collar, than lipstick.”
Depends on the color of the lipstick, I’d say. If it looks different than it did in the store and doesn’t match the outfit, that can be greatly psychologically damaging.
Each time, I mention my unhappiness about being stopped to the store manager, for all the good it does me. Is it racial? I doubt it, it's just foolishness.
I no longer shop at Sam's Club because of this policy.
Then again, may be they were profiling good looking women in shorts and crop tops.
LOL!
Extremely slim on details.
Did an alarm go off?
Was the person checking her sales receipt “of color”?
Did she have 8 kids bouncing around each carrying something?
Do they check everybody? (I know the article quotes her as saying they don’t check people of less pigmentation but how does she know that from one visit?)
Has she ever shopped there before?
Did she flat refuse to show her receipt and start acting erratic, beligerant or nervous?
Was she ugly?
Are there signs?
How many other “discrimination” lawsuits has she filed?
Did she know her check would bounce before she made it out the door?
Did she buy anything cool?
Answers,,, we need answers!!
If blacks don’t want the rest of us to look at them as being more capable of crime, they need ( as a group) to be less criminal.

Sam’s Club does it for everyone and always has. Even people who work for the Sam’s home office have to show their receipt.
You're not thinking creatively enough!
Yeah, that is my sister’s point. I’m the type that doesn’t like to cause a scene, so I go along. But she really is right. They have no right to do that. Once you’ve paid for the merchandise, it is yours and, technically, they have no right to search you w/o cause. As someone else noted, what they usually say is they want to make sure there “wasn’t a mistake” or some other polite excuse. I don’t see the need for a lawsuit. You have the right to politely decline and they can’t detain you. (I’m not a lawyer, so don’t take my advice as legal advice. I’m just saying what I understand.) Anyway, they won’t detain you and, if they do, they have a lawsuit on their hands. As I said before, my sister just says, “That isn’t necessary” and walks by. No problems that I know of for her.
OK — and that pertains to putting an end to the use of the “n-word” how?
I agree with you. They don’t expect to win and know the case has no merit. What they want is for the company to throw them a cool couple million to settle.
I guess if I’d bought an iPod . . .
LOL! Is that the ‘Angelina Jolie’ Barbie Doll? ;)
“My brother-in-law claims that, legally, the stores have no right to do that, so he and my sister just say, That is not necessary and keep walking.”
Hope your BIL comes up with the bail too when he and your sister are hauled off to jail.
You’re in my store. You play by my rules.
About a year ago I walked into my local Sam's Club and forgot they check you for a card on the way on. This guy came up behind me and grabbed my arm.
I turned around, looked him in the eye, and started counting: 1 .. 2 .. 3 ..
He looked shocked and turned me loose. Then he explained about the card. I took it out, along with my pocket knife. I cut the card in half, handed it to him, and walked out. I've never been back.
I’ve always wondered why there haven’t been numerous lawsuits brought against stores for their constant false alarms of their inventory control scanners. That is quite embarrassing.
Nobody ever checks my receipt. But then I’m a white male.
