Many Wal-Mart stores also check receipts.

Of course, Sam’s Club and Costco do that. Home Depot tried it for a while and gave up. My brother-in-law claims that, legally, the stores have no right to do that, so he and my sister just say, “That is not necessary” and keep walking. Thus far, they haven’t had any problems. I like to go along to get along. It doesn’t bother me to show a receipt, but I can see how some people would take offense.

Think that would compensate them for all their pain & suffering?? /s

With all due respect, it's mainly about making sure whitey feels some pain.

There are several stores I've been in recently that everyone has to show their receipts upon leaving the store.

Costco, Sams Club, Guitar Center...

Maybe they got caught shoplifting and that's why they're steamed.

Exactly: If they (the shoppers) don’t like how they’re treated, there are other places in which to buy toys where they should take their patronage. Free market and all that.

Get "your" crime statistics in line with the rest of the country. Until then, STFU.

Interestingly... I shop at a warehouse store that is primarily AA managed and staffed.

It is a policy that everyone show their receipts when leaving, and have it checked against their items. The AA "checker" routinely waves me on through while doing an "in depth" inspection of younger AA customers.

I feel so profiled!

I know but they are “selective” of what’s in the basket. Sam’s checks everything.

“Is that a teddy bear in your pocket or are you glad to see me?”

Nope, it's a Transformer!

The Best Buy down the street from my office did that to me a few months ago when I bought the World of Warcraft expansion.

Ticked me off . . . I had no purse or bag, just my little credit card wallet and my keys, and a WoW box in my hand. I was wearing shorts and a crop top, so there was no place to hide merchandise on me.

For real. Sheesh. I hate that.

Hey, lawyers have to make a living too.

Look for legal funding from the Rainbow Coalition, NAACP and ACLU. This travesty is important to the whole tort industry. How else with these legal proffessionals and “non-profit” organizations afford to provide these much needed social injustice defense services.

I bet this wouldn’t have happened if they’d passed on Toy’s ‘R Us in favor of patronizing a good black-owned chain, like We Be Toyz...

I would have shown the receipt and thought nothing of it.

I live in central NJ and there are several stores in the area that require me to show my receipt when I leave (and I am white, by the way). I don't think anything of it, they're just trying to reduce shoplifting, which is a crime, the last time I checked.

The judge should tell these two clowns to get over themselves and grow some thicker skins.

"discriminated against them by asking them to show their sales receipts."

They do that at our local Walmart and Sams, and it's no problem. I've never gotten offended or seen anyone get offended. They just have their receipt marked and leave. "They are seeking compensatory and punitive damages of at least $200 million each on behalf of the class."

All because they had to show a receipt? The judge should throw them out of court.
