Paris/France burns, Live thread (night #10)

Posted on 11/05/2005 9:39:59 AM PST by Dane

It is now getting dark in Paris and in all of France(appx. 6:40 PM Paris Time), and if there are any French FR lurkers(lurquers), this may be the thread to post your reports about any further violence.

It seems the French govt. is impotent in it's response to what seems are jihadist thugs and it seems the American media has put a news blackout filter to what is really happening, so as not to embarass their heroes, Chirac et al.

So any news reports or personal reports from what happens tonight are welcome, and don't worry about broken English, reports in French are welcome also, I have no doubt someone can translate.

I really dread putting up a live thread about such a matter, but it seems that the American MSM is following French govt. orders to play down to what it seems is an insurrection.

"Either the jihadists really are crazy ..."

I'm votin' for crazy, Grampa Dave. But I also agree with other posters that have said this is a testing ground. Or, it could just be a bunch of clueless Islamic punks who just started something and it easily got out of control.

Do you think this was thoroughly planned and coordinated? I'm just asking, while I mull over the situation...

Here's an excerpt from the AP today - I doubt the Muslim rioters are taking a night off - it's just that the newscycle on this is like molasses - everyday, we have to wait until morning in France to get a real update - last night, pundits were saying things were calming down, and look what we got:

By daybreak Saturday, 897 vehicles were destroyed — a sharp rise from the 500 burned a night earlier, police said. It was the worst one-day toll since the unrest broke out Oct. 27 following the accidental electrocution of the two teenagers who hid in a power substation, apparently believing police were chasing them.

Anger has spread to the Internet, with blogs mourning the youths. Along with messages of condolence and appeals for calm are insults targeting police, threats of more violence and warnings that the unrest will feed support for France's anti-immigration extreme right.

Police detained 258 people overnight, almost all in the Paris region, and dozens of them will be prosecuted, Interior Minister Nicolas Sarkozy said after a government crisis meeting. He warned of possibly heavy sentences for torching cars.

Most rioting has been in towns with low-income housing projects where unemployment and distrust of police run high. But in a new development, arsonists were moving beyond their heavily policed neighborhoods to attack others with less security, national police spokesman Patrick Hamon said.

"They are very mobile, in cars or scooters... It is quite hard to combat," he said. "Most are young ... we have even seen young minors."

There appeared to be no coordination between separate groups in different areas, Hamon said. But within gangs, he added, youths are communicating by cell phones or e-mails.

A youth center and a police station were set ablaze in Torcy, close to Disneyland Paris.

"Reminds me a little of the crowds when the Nazis marched in. Different faces, color instead of black and white, but similar mood."

Good point.

How the MSM sees them:

How they feel on the inside:

John Kerry. He'll do for America what Chirac did for France. With Joe Wilson's help.

If you speak French, you can watch the news in France at this URL:

You do have to understand French, but if you do, you can see the nightly news broadcast anytime here. Lots of footage and commentary.

You probably wouldn't understand it, but translated, it would mostly consist of messages that say "Run! Run!", "Retreat", "Get those guys out of there!", and "Evacuate the area!"

What's the French expression for "Game over, man! Game over!"

Geeeeze !!! I though the city of Paris would be totaly empty of true Frenchmen by now.

I mean with their strong sense of standing their ground and proclivity of fighting to their death to protect the country and all. Of course the normal strategy of retreating to the suburbs in order to save the city of Paris is mandatory. It is my belief that this is why the riots are spreading to other towns and cities because the French citizens of Paris are running from town to town to protect Paris. ( I think it may be a french attempt at a diversion).

< sarcasm off>

This is my rant I did in another thread. Screw the french. Let them burn. They sewed this field, let them now enjoy the crop it has yeilded. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20051105/ap_on_re_eu/france_rioting . over 900 cars torched, A nursery was torched, a police station, and at least four other french cities have been hit with torched cars, and buildings. And yet, I DO NOT CARE!!!

This is a problem of the french's own making. For years they thumbed their noses at us, bringing in immigrants by the thousands for labor, with their own population aging and decrepit, and NOT requiring the immigrants to merge into their society, so the mostly arab and black muslim influx built their own little sub-culture, matching identically to that which they came from, not integrating at all like french society, like America encourages our immigrants to do. Now the french are paying for their stupidity, just letting anyone come in that wants in. And now they're paying for that stupidity, so let the country burn.

The irony is, france went SO FAR out of their way to oppose us in the war, partially because they had their hand in the cookie jar with hussein, tied up with tens of billions of the oil for food scandal, and partially because the french are simply the most arrogant obnoxious unlikable europeans there are, and they still have delusions that they're a great world power, so they opposed us, siding with the muslim radicals in almost every instance. But the muslims in france don't seem to be giving them any points for that do they?

What's even more ridiculous is that this all stemmed from two teenage muslim boys being electrocuted because they were running from police, who weren't even chasing them. The police were chasing someone else. So I wonder, what would the muslims have done if the french police had actually been chasing those two muslim kids and killed them on purpose? Would there be dead french littering the streets, burning school busses, and would there be a mushroom cloud over the Eiffel tower? Because if this is what the unintegrated muslim populace does responding to an accidental death of just two, I'd hate to see what they'd do if it was an on purpose. Oh well.

Maybe the french will learn something from this. Hopefully they'll learn that when you side with the devil, you will still get burned, and it would be better to listen to us from now on. I doubt it though. france can burn to the ground and it's government collapse for all I care. They are no ally of ours and haven't been for a long time. If we ever send troops there it should be ONLY to protect the cemeteries of our fallen heros on Normandy and other places in france. I just knew a couple years ago when the french opposed us we should have retrieved all the bodies of the fallen WWI and WWII heros and brought them home. They wouldn't want to be buried in the trash heap of France anyway. As far as I'm concerned, the bodies of our fallen dead are the only thing of value in france anyway.

The post you cite appears to be the work of a French apologist or disinformationist.

au contraire, it is the work of a critical and honest thinker with direct experience of the conditions.
His highlighting of the underlying racism of the French is certainly not the work of an apologist.
What is happening in Denmark is not necessarily what is happening in Paris.

"I find your concern for France pretty interesting, Dane, since you advocate unbridled immigration for the US. Are you not concerned something similar could happen further in the future when there is enough of a quantity of illegal immigrants here?

Get back to me when Christian Hispanics are throwing bricks instead of what they are doing now, laying bricks to build buildings. You buchananites are in a real pickle about whom to support in this fight aren't you. Two Jew hating factions, the current french govt. and the jihadists, fighting amonngst themselves. Poor pat."

"France opened its gates to Islamic immigration, welcoming a new wave of people who would embrace their culture and be grateful for the largesse of their hosts. Those who warned of the consequences were silenced by cries of racism or fascism and were associated with the far right ......

Those who pointed out that Islam has never coexisted peacefully as a minority in any culture were silenced and told that islam is a religion of peace.

When Boumedienne boasted in 1974 at the UN that millions of Muslims would venture north as warriors of islam and would conquer it with the wombs of Islamic women , who paid attention ?

Even The reporting of such a statement would have brought cries of racism from the french intellectual left and its media.

And yet it was about this time that the persecution and slaughter of Middle eastern Christian took a new impetus. Yet again even the reporting of this was virtually banned in the french media.""

Excellent analogy. Like "Tommy," the French are, indeed, deaf, dumb and blind.

But they sure make a mean pinot noir.

Yeah boy, marching silently with flag bandoliers, that will sure show the muslims who's in charge and give them what for. They need to be carrying signs that read "deport all ismalic militants" and "death to terrorists", and ones like that, and put together neighborhood watch groups armed with guns, and shoot on sight all muslim rioters, and if a few of them start going up in flames because after being shot, they dropped their lit molitov cocktails at their feet, torching themselves, all the better. Stupid frenchie french don't get it. I'll be damned if that ever happens here if I'll cower or march silently through the streets. I'll have my 9mm and rifle and be out at night looking for trophys. THAT is how you stop that.

> Do you think this was thoroughly planned and coordinated?

That's the question everyone is asking. When Sharon went up to the Temple Mount, that was the excuse for the infitada, just as the was the death of the two Moslem "youths" in Paris. I do think the Islamists have an agenda, and that hardliners in France are fanning the flames. Evidence that there is an actual battle plan might be if Marseilles goes up tonight. It is France's second city, and they say the downtown is 90% Moslem.
