I have been interested in human migrations for many years. One of the markers of a population is the distribution of a blood type among a given population.
I got interested in this because the blood type distribution in the UK is nearly 50/50 A/O, a small sample has other blood types.
My dear old Ma is Black Irish and is A/B, not a common blood type in the part of Ireland where her family originated.
Click on the link for distributions.
That's actually not funny, she's bluntly asked her mom
about it. She does know someone who has the same
blood type, however he's black & my sis-in-law has
blond hair & green eyes (& is almost as pale as me).
She also resembles family on her dad's side, has a
cousin who could be mistaken for her sister.
B- here and I am half Norwegian and the rest is a mix of English,Irish and possibly German
I'm O+ and Samoan.
My hubby A- and he's the United Nations all by himself.
(Scottish, Irish,Cherokee, and I'm tired of thinking about what else. It's easier being one thing like me. LOL!)
Both of our boys are A+ and both of them have a Mongolian blue birthmark. I suppose that was probably my fault.
I always told my mom that I was a special breed of Samoan all to myself. Now I have proof. LOL! Since I'm Polynesian the last time I checked, I don't fit in the category of the Diego negative model. However, I always knew that my ancestors were from Southeastern Asia. So? It fits.
Didn't the spots fade away as they got older?
My oldest is 10. And it has shrunk considerably. The little ones will start doing the same in the next few years!!
Same here! (sigh!!)
Traces of Archaic Mitochondrial Lineages Persist in Austronesian-Speaking Formosan Populations
Mom, very British was O-, Dad mostly Scotch Iris was A+. As a teenager I can remember them testing my blood repeatedly because the results weren't consistent. In the end, my oldest sister (much older), and an RN told me DO NOT EVER LET THEM GIVE YOU type B blood, regardless of what their blood tests say. I noticed my driver's license says I am B+, but my hospital records list me as "plasma only, universal donor type" and the Bloodmobile shuns me. I need to call sis and figure it out - never thought of it before.
Kids are both B+ as was there father, who was Blackfoot.
Bump for later read. I learn so much on the Blam threads.
JimSEA, see the link in post #88.
Very good article, Thanks.

Bump for later
So are we. And all eight of our children. I didn't know we were so rare.
