John Kerry wrote his Review for "Apocalypse Now" on Oct 14, 1979 in the Boston Herald.

JOHN KERRY:
"On more than one occasion, I like Martin Sheen in "Apocalypse Now," took my patrol boat into Cambodia. In fact I remember spending Christmas Eve of 1968 five miles across the Cambodian border being shot at by our South Vietnamese allies who were drunk and celebrating Christmas. The absurdity of almost being killed by our own allies in a country in which President Nixon claimed there were no American troops was very real."

I can't get past the two glaring lies/stupidities in Kerry's first two paragraphs. Namely:
1) The "generals" got us into Vietnam. Wrong. Kennedy got us into Vietnam. LBJ got us bogged down there. The generals did their bidding.
2) Kerry says that the Vietnam war COULDN'T be won!!! He says it is a LIE to have suggested that we could have won. Now, I never served there; I wasn't born until 1968, so I can't speak with any authority personally. However, I have heard MANY Vietnam vets opine that had the U.S. truly been committed, if we had had the intestinal fortitude to do what had to be done, we inded could have won the war. Why didn't Americans have the resolve? Mainly because of people like John Kerry, who publicly whined about the war being a lost cause. Kerry and his ilk lost the war for us every bit as much as did LBJ and McNamara.
