Donald Trump on Wednesday said that he would consider making Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) his running mate.
I respect Ted, he told host Bill OReilly on Fox News The OReilly Factor." "He was a very strong competitor. He really competed hard and tough."
Hes certainly a capable guy, the presumptive GOP presidential nominee added. "Its something we can think about. Trump defeated Cruz in Tuesdays Indiana GOP presidential primary, making him the presumptive nominee.
Cruz suspended his Oval Office bid shortly afterward, saying that his results in the Hoosier State foreclose his path to the Republican presidential nomination.
Trump on Wednesday said that he does not resent Cruz for their often bitter contest against each another.
Its an easy thing, he said of the nominating process. "He said some things and he made some things up and he took some things that were said out of context.
Reports emerged earlier on Wednesday that retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson would serve on a selection committee for finding Trumps running mate.
Carson, another former GOP presidential candidate, will help Trump make his pick before the Republican National Convention in Cleveland in July.
Trump on Wednesday said that Carsons involvement stems from his reluctance in becoming the vice presidential nominee himself.
I dont think Bens looking at that, he said. "Hes a friend of mine. Hes been so helpful. Hes a terrific guy.
Trump additionally reiterated that he is also eyeing Gov. John Kasich (R-Ohio), who suspended his White House run earlier Wednesday.
I would certainly consider him, he said. "During the debates Id always find myself talking to John. Ive had a good relationship with him, so well see how that turns out.
I dont want to talk too much about it as I am considering a couple of people. We do have a lot of candidates who would be very, very good."
JRob why is this guy still around here, clearly violating your meme of Never Hillary???? Hell his tagline says it all
Better hire a food taster, while you're at it.
I still think it will be Kasich.
The “far rightwing”?!??
Where have I stumbled in to, DU?
Maybe that poster is one of those GOPE elites? They think like the dummies on DU
Considering that people from Trump's campaign have also mentioned Nikki Haley as a possible VP, we could do a lot worse than Cruz.
that doesn’t count lol
that’s like asking if you want to drink poison
Cruz character flaws don’t say he believes in good character in anything. Did you bother to listen to his last weeks lying about Trump even about things that are Trump’s published policies? If he could sell out to Neil Bush he would eventually consider Trump, but I hope it does not happen. There are many young talented conservatives for Trump to tap.
He is not native born, so I am a big NO also. Even if he were, I still don’t like or trust him. He seemed increasingly unhinged. I also don’t trust a person who schemes to the lengths Cruz did - and colluding with the GOP leaders to do those delegate deals, boooooo!
NO ONE in the Presidency or Vice Presidency who is foreign born. Period.
Agreed. Trump is just throwing Cruz supporters a bone. In other words,
“Cruz supporters I need your vote, pleeeze!”
The National Enquirer did, and Trump wanted to know why the rest of the media wasn't running with it. It's exactly the kind of think Trump believes.
Hillary thanks you for the talking points saves her time she is tired and ill you know.
BS like so much of what you say you add your interpretation or spin to anything he says. Doing the job Hillary won’t have to, she thanks you.
Cruz couldn’t even get 50% in his deep red home state and adds nothing to the ticket except for his ultimately unlikable personality. It’s nice of Trump to say but Cruz possesses no strategic value.
So what's your take?
Vote Trump
Everyone did because it’s the truth. That’s why Lying Ted is an also ran like Jeb and the rest of the LOSERS and Trump is the nominee.
What kind of attitude is that? And "Trumpsters"?
Settle down.
Vote Trump
Why bring Dominionism to the SCOTUS or to the Veep? Let Ted stay in the Senate.
If that's true, then it applies to Cruz just as much...
Vote Trump
