What are the form rules regarding promoting a book?
Self, multiple references | Andrejs Vanags

Can I promote a book I wrote in this forum?

I wrote a book describing how one can date many events during the life time of Jesus, and I am thinking of writing weekly posts describing each event (for example the conception of Virgin Mary by Hanna, the birth of Jesus Christ, the crucifixion if Jesus Christ, the resurrection of Jesus Christ, the transfiguration, the martyrdom of Stephen etc. each in an individual post in this forum. Basically excerpts from my books.

Is it allowed? Would you guys and gals be interested?

What, exactly, do you mean by "date?"

Like: "Monday, February 13th, A.D. 12?"

Regards,

Well if the answer is ‘yes’, please post a link or at least a title. I mostly get my books from the library so if it’s available I’ll give it a look.

Best of luck, and congrats on publishing!

Watch out for running afoul of user “ebb tide” who ordained himself “Intercessor Of All Things God” and goes whining to the moderators to get comments removed.

I’ve seen several people mention books they’ve written and provide links to them on their FR home pages.

Put it on your homepage. Add your location and write some stuff on it. And most importantly give a donation to Free Republic.

The only way to date anything precisely and with certainty is to tie an event to an astronomical occurrence that can be calculated down to the minute, so Yes, not only the year the month the day, the day of the week but sometimes to a range of minutes.

For example the vision of Angel Gabriel that Zacharias saw at the Altar of Incense can be dated to have occurred on the Day of Atonement, Tuesday the 10th of Tishri, September 28th 1 B.C. which was triggered by Zacharias seeing the Heliacal rising of Jupiter on the Eastern horizon. This occurred between 5:07 a.m. and stopped being visible around dawn at 5:40 a.m.

Joachim and Hanna where the parents of Virgin Mary, where Hanna was the sister of Elisabeth the mother of John the Baptist

I’m not a policy creator; I’m just offering my own 2 cents.

These people who post incessantly from the same sources over and over and over again drive me up the wall. I hate it. They misuse (in my opinion) Free Republic as a propaganda machine for their own axe to grind, and it’s the FR equivalent of spam. At least yours will be your own writing.

I can propose one way to make your writing even more welcome: Post when something is relevant. Want to post a chapter about St. Paul’s conversion? Post it on the date it happened, or, if you mean to challenge conventional wisdom, post it on the date it’s conventionally. I might even be inclined to read it.

All that aside: Is this original research? Do you have any expertise that someone else would recognize? What kind of sources have you relied on/trusted in?

“(for example the conception of Virgin Mary by Hanna,”.

People also ask
Who was Hannah in the Bible and what did she do?
AI Overview
In the Bible, Hannah is known as the mother of the prophet Samuel. She was one of two wives of Elkanah, but she was barren for a time. Driven by her deep desire for a child, Hannah prayed fervently to God, promising to dedicate her son to God’s service if she were granted one. God answered her prayer, and she gave birth to Samuel. Hannah kept her vow, bringing Samuel to the temple in Shiloh to serve under the priest Eli. She is also remembered for her powerful prayer of thanksgiving, recorded in 1 Samuel 2:1-10.

Luke 1:26-38
GOD’S WORD Translation
The Angel Gabriel Comes to Mary
26 Six months after Elizabeth had become pregnant, God sent the angel Gabriel to Nazareth, a city in Galilee. 27 The angel went to a virgin promised in marriage to a descendant of David named Joseph. The virgin’s name was Mary.

28 When the angel entered her home, he greeted her and said, “You are favored by the Lord! The Lord is with you.”

29 She was startled by what the angel said and tried to figure out what this greeting meant.

30 The angel told her,

“Don’t be afraid, Mary. You have found favor [a] with God.
31 You will become pregnant, give birth to a son,
and name him Jesus.
32 He will be a great man
and will be called the Son of the Most High.
The Lord God will give him
the throne of his ancestor David.
33 Your son will be king of Jacob’s people forever,
and his kingdom will never end.”

34 Mary asked the angel, “How can this be? I’m a virgin.”

35 The angel answered her, “The Holy Spirit will come to you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. Therefore, the holy child developing inside you will be called the Son of God.

36 “Elizabeth, your relative, is six months pregnant with a son in her old age. People said she couldn’t have a child. 37 But nothing is impossible for God.”

38 Mary answered, “I am the Lord’s servant. Let everything you’ve said happen to me.”

Then the angel left her.

Now, I sure ain’t read all of it, but I read a good bit of it. ‘example the conception of Virgin Mary by Hanna’. Please, tell me, where can I find the Biblical reference to substantiate that?

OK - Hanna - not exactly the same as Anne but I get the reference to the same person traditionally known as St. Anne.

favored? A little bit of an understatement by the translator here.

What makes you assert that Zacharias saw Gabriel on the Day of Atonement? The bible seems to say he was only in the Temple because he had been chosen by lot to routinely burn incense, not make some special sacrifice that was unique on the calendar. And what makes you suppose that this took place on 1 BC?

By my reasoning, the date of September 28 seems pretty solid. This puts it roughly six months before the Annunciation of the Incarnation of Christ, which in turn would be nine months before the birth of Christ, Dec. 25. That checks out biblically.

(The 25th of Kislev, which roughly approximates December, is the date when the Spirit of God entered the Temple. Nine months before that is the date when the Annunciation took place, which would make the date of his death the same as the date of his conception, which would align with ancient beliefs about the conception and deaths of great prophets. I should note that the 25th of Kislev is almost a month off from being nine months after passover, but since Jesus was killed decades after he was born, this isn’t necessarily a conflict. But it is dubious that these dates actually align with the Julian or Gregorian calendar, and most likely reflect some attempt to translate dates from one calendar to another, rather than time their occurrence correctly.)

Good point.

Protestant concordances often claim that the word in Greek is “charitou,” which does translate into “favor,” “gift” or “grace” But as with many instances in such concordances, this is the root word, not the real word. The real word is “kecharitoumene,” which means given the fullness of favor and is in the past tense.

So while there’s an innocent explanation for the translation in the concordance, the translation in Protestant bibles is inexcusable: It’s hard to imagine that having been told she had given the fullness of grace (or God’s favor, or gifts, or however you want to translate it here), the Blessed Virgin Mary was still not redeemed and was indeed doomed to Hell, which is what Calvin’s doctrine would suggest. But this absurdity is concealed by this unreasonable translation, which could lead one to suppose that “OK, she has *a* gift, but not necessarily the gift of redemption.”

Zacharias and Elisabeth were of the sons of Arron of the tribe of Levi (Luke 1:5). Joseph and Mary were of the tribe of Judah. They probably were not first cousins.
