OK, everyone, question of the day -- What is the third step?
At the Serra Club convention that I attended this last weekend a nun talked about these steps -- she had a beautiful blue habit with white veil with a thin dark blue stripe on it. Similar to the Sisters of Charity of Mother Teresa of Calcutta.

It depends on the order. Some have several levels of temporary vows before final profession, and some simply have renewable temporary vows without a permanent profession.

Probably not a trick question, but the answer is more complicated than just a simple “Step 3.”
I never reply to these threads but wanted you to know how much I appreciate you posting them. I’m going to make my 11 year old son read them for school every day or at least when I remember!! Thank you!
The postulant and novitiate are temporary vows, and some orders do have further temporary vows (usually three years), but the last step is final vows.
You will both agree with that.
I didn’t mean for it to be a trick question, just forgot about some orders having an extended period of temporary vows.
The nun who shared with us at the Serra Club conference did talk about the first two steps as being temporary and girls leaving at those times.
