Catholic Word of the Day: SEDE VACANTE, 06-22-09
CatholicReference.net ^ | 06-22-09 | Fr. John Hardon's Modern Catholic Dictionary

Featured Term (selected at random):

SEDE VACANTE

The period during which an episcopal see or diocese is vacant, that is, without a bishop. Generally applied to the See of Rome. Procedures during this time follow the norms set down by Pope Paul VI in the apostolic constitution Romano Pontifici Eligendo (1975), superseding the directives of Pope Pius XII (1945), and Pope John XXIII (1962).

I've been carrying on a FReepmail conversation with someone who attends a Tridentine Mass (endorsed by Pope Benedict) and yet he/she claims to be a sedevacatist.

This doesn't make sense to me. Not recognizing the Pope and yet attending the Tridentine which Pope Benedict endorses.

Can anyone help me fathom out any reasoning here?

Hey, I have a favor to ask.
Would there be any way that you could post a pronunciation guide to the word of the day?

I’m trying to tweak my Latin!

It’s not in the dictionary that Father Hardon does. If anyone wants to look them up and post the pronounciation, they could certainly do it. (Enough on my plate......LOL!)

I would say that she really would like to be an SSPXer. I’m wondering if the 13 ordinations this weekend are meant to be a slap to the vatican and their efforts to bring them back.

My SSPX friend, who drove to Minn. all the way from AZ still believes that Pope Benedict is a modernist pretender.

**still believes that Pope Benedict is a modernist pretender.**

That’s unbelievable.

Just found this on Our Lady's Warriors:

Fr. Anthony Cekada Sedevacantist who claims that Pope Paul VI, who promulgated the Novus Ordo Mass, "... imposed [was] evil, sacrilegious, faith-destroying. This is why as Catholics we reject it."
Bishop Daniel Dolan Sedevacantist who claims that Pope John Paul II is an apostate and that the Novus Ordo Mass is invalid.
Reverend Anthony Hash, D.D. "Presiding Bishop" of the schismatic United American Catholic Church.
Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre Former head of Society of St. Pius X (SSPX) who illicitly consecrated four Bishops.
Fr. Curzio Nitogliae Claims that Vatican II is false.
Fr. Lucian Pulvermacher, O.F.M. Cap Sedevacantist who claims to be the new "Pope Pius XIII."
Bishop Mark A. Pivarunas, CMRI As head of the Sedevacantist organization The Religious Congregation of Mary Immaculate Queen (Congregatio Mariae Reginae Immaculatae - CMRI), claims that Vatican II and all popes after Pius XII are heretical and false, as well as that the Novus Ordo Mass is invalid.
Fr. Donald J. Sanborn Sedevacantist who claims that Pope John Paul II is an apostate and that the Novus Ordo Mass is invalid.
Fr. John Trosch Claims that Pope John Paul II is a heretical, automatically excommunicated masonic pope and that the Novus Ordo Mass is invalid.
