The postulant and novitiate are temporary vows, and some orders do have further temporary vows (usually three years), but the last step is final vows.

You will both agree with that.

I didn’t mean for it to be a trick question, just forgot about some orders having an extended period of temporary vows.

The nun who shared with us at the Serra Club conference did talk about the first two steps as being temporary and girls leaving at those times.
