[history]
The 5,300-year-old "Iceman" discovered in 1991 in the Italian Alps was killed by one or more assailants in a fight that lasted at least two days, shows evidence obtained by sophisticated DNA testing and old-fashioned detective work.
Scientists initially presumed that the Stone Age Iceman, nicknamed Otzi, was caught in a storm and froze to death. But a new team said Monday that Otzi's case instead has become the world's oldest, and coldest, murder case.

The use of the term "murdered" is curious. Suppose he was killed by a prehistoric version of the FBI or the BATF or the Las Vegas police. Would it then be murder or would it be a "good shoot?"

Maybe in 5000 years they'll get around to solving the Vince Foster case.
To: from occupied ga
What if "Otzi" was simply a criminal who was hunted down and killed for his crime?

Must be a slow news day at USA Today. This info has been "out there" in various stories. Even The Discovery Channel revealed this information -- last year. Somebody needs to define "news" for the editors at USA Today.

"The use of the term "murdered" is curious. Suppose he was killed by a prehistoric version of the FBI or the BATF or the Las Vegas police." More likely it was plain old tribal warfare. A more accurate title might be "killed by other humans" without adding the "cultural baggage" implied by the word "murdered".
