Geez, Napoleon, he was complimenting the NYPD. Way to overreact. Sounds like your "skin of armor" has worn pretty thin.
I agree.
Apparently, some people in NY are so edgy that see hostility even in a nice compliment of the NYPD.

This sounds like a professional hit.

I came across this.
District 35
Incumbent: James E. Davis (Dem/WFP/Ind)
Challengers: Anthony L. Herbert (Dem)
Abraham E. Wasserman (Con)
So one of these two must have been killer.

I am completely sucked in to this story...watching Fox in my office right now. I just don't understand how this could have happened in such a public place with such strict security.

The more people you put in a confined space the more wack jobs you get. You will never be safe from loonies. NEVER unless you lock yourself up.
Given that, I would strongly suggest you (not you in particular) move or take measures to protect yourself.
Because unfortunately Armed Police that WAS present couldn't protect the good Councilman. A thug on the LIRR with revenge on his mind is a license to slaughter. Colin Ferguson proved that.

If people there were armed, the creap would likely be dead already, instead of escaped. You must live in Podunk, North Dakota, population 117. Given the population density in New York City, there is a much greater chance that in addition to one dead creep, you would also have a lot of innocent people killed or wounded in the line of fire.

Mayor said on a crawler: "It's not terrorism, it's democracy." What a stupid statement.
Bloomberg covering his own butt for this gross breakdown in security.

Back up a page. There are two pictures of him on previous threads.

Well, from what I've learned about him in the last 30 minutes, I wouldn't agree with him on anything, but this is terrible.
Prayers to his family.

Or perhaps the metal detectors are a visible but non-functional deterrent. I used to work in a highly-visited public building in which the metal detectors were not operating because that would cost too much money, but were left in the entrance area as a visual deterrent.
