"Living History" versus "Treason"
07/18/03 | Quaker

Posted on 07/18/2003 9:16:07 AM PDT by Quaker

I just returned from a library in Pasco County, FLorida.

My wife dragged me there to pick up several books for her to read on vacation.

While she was searching for here Books I decided to search for Ann Coulter's Book "Treason" to check out for myself.

The librarian told me that there were 2 copies of Ann's Book and I could sign up to get on a long waiting list.

At that point I asked if they had Hillary's Book. She informed me that there were 35 copies there ready to be checked out. At that point, I have to cofess, I went ballistic and asked why anyone would order that many books to perpetuate a lie and contribute to her wealth.

The librarian understood why I was angry (she is conservative too). She asked around to find out why there were so many copies of Living History. She said there is a committee that decides how many copies should be purchased for the library system and they decided it were going to be a "many requests for Hillary's book."

I don't believe the explanation. It was political.

Maybe some other Freepers should check out their library systems and complain if the same thing is happening elsewhere. If so complain for equal representation for Conservative books.

Great idea. The huge library purchases contribute to the amount of sales if they are read or not.

Last year in her book Slander, Ann Coulter mentioned that a number of book stores actually hide "conservative" books. I personally experienced this phenomenon myself. I tried to purchase Slander, and it was in a remote corner of the shop. I had to ask for the book, and only then was I able to purchase it. At that time it was the NYT #1 Best Seller.

I visted my public library the other day. There was a huge banner entitled Stop the Violence advocating gun control. There were lots and lots of magazines for homosexuals. I was looking for a book entitled Constitutional Conflicts between Congress and the President. I couldn't find it but I did find half a dozen books on the evil militia movement.

Ick.

Perhaps you should run for the library board. How did the people currently making the decisions get their positions?

Same thing here in NC. I checked with the library to see if they even had Treason. Nope, not one copy, but yet they have 25 or so copies of Lying History. So I decided to just fork out the cash and went and bought Treason yesterday.

Why in the world wouldn't you believe this? "She said there is a committee that decides how many copies should be purchased for the library system and they decided it were going to be a "many requests for Hillary's book."

If that committee is made up of liberals, of course they would want Hillary's book available. But I take this as good news, and further proof of just how dumb liberals are. I mean, think about it..you go to the library to check out a book you really want to read, it's not there, and you're forced to go out and buy it. That's good news for Ann

Norman Public Library, Moore Public Library, and Shawnee Oklahoma Libraries all part of the Pioneer Library System (9 libraries in the system) are the only ones with "1" copy of the book each. That makes "3" copies of Living History for check-out through 9 libraries here in Central Oklahoma. BTW, only one is checked out right now and it was checked out on the 16th of July!

When Rush's first book came out AND HAD ALREADY MADE THE BEST SELLER LIST, I went to my local library in Baltimore to find out a copy. The librarian said they only had 4 copies, all were taken out and I would have to reserve mine.

I had noticed seven copies of the latest Gloria Steinem book in the new book section that nobody seemed to be interested in.

It is decided by committee and these particular selections were political.

Glad to say , my local library now has plenty of books by conservatives.

A guy named Jerry Thrasher from Fayetteville North Carolina's Library system was also the a Big Wig in the American Library Association. Republican forces in Fayetteville have opposed this man locally and watched as he and others kept pron surfing available in view of children at the librarys under free speach. His liberal, ALC and ACLU loving policies are anti-family; he is a card carrying democrat and has spoke around the country in defense of library "free speech" for porn on PCs, keeping products like Websense or Watch Dog Web Filters off computers. Our library's function as a matter of DNC Policy disseminators.

Simple. If they have such a long waiting list for Ann's book I would have asked how long it would be before new copies of the book (which have obviously been ordered) would arrive.
If they hadn't been ordered I'd have asked who I could speak with to insure that copies of this popular book can be ordered and if not, why not.
I'd take names and press this as far as I could.
I've learned that simply by taking names you get action.

I did a web search of the Fairfax County public libraries in northern VA.

116 copies of the Shrew's lying memoirs, and only one available for check-out.

70 copies of Ann Coulter's "Treason," plus 8 copies on CD, and none available for checkout.

Yes, but isn't there a certain relish to saying "I'm looking for Ann Coulter's Treason, Liberal Treachery from the Cold War to the War on Terrorism" to the pierced faced, purple haired, hippie behind the counter?

Anyone who wants to see why libraries have some many copies of "Lying History" needs to see the American Libraries Association website. It's socialism 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Plus, if you get an MLS degree, you're going to be showered non-stop by people encouraging you (it's almost like a union) to join.
