The Freepers Greatest Threads, and Posts!

Why not spend a few minutes reminiscing about the funniest, most poinient, historic, or heartwarming moments on FREE REPUBLIC. Take the time to scan your bookmarks, search your memory, and scratch your head, Freep a friend for help, but find them, and share them with the greatest forum on the WORLD WIDE WEB.

This is the time to show-off, and post those one-liners and rejoiners that make the posters on the Jim Robinson website, that continues to make history, untangle quamirers, and pop enigmas. Rememer Jim and this site as you go down memory lane, and drop a few bucks on the fundraiser, as a bit of thanks!!

I've got my coffee, and a plastic cover on my keyboard in case I am drinking when the best of the best pop up without a warning... Have at it, you are the best......

I don't have the link, but the live thread during the recount covering Judge N. Sanders Sauls (God bless him!) started and managed by hole-n-one (or, for the Roman Numeral Fans: hole_n_I) was a work of art covering two full days.

Here's my pick as the most ironic post ever:

Year of Action Against Racism and White Privilege in the Northwest

You can tell a lot about any effort by the parameters going in.  Spending a quarter on this percieved problem would be one thing, a year?  Sorry, no sale.  It's going to address reparations.  You can guess where that will wind up.  Noting that the leadership percieves a "White Privilege" going in, I wouldn't be at all surprised if individual church members are urged to divest themselves of some of their wealth as the Christian thing to do.

This nation needs a war.  I know that sounds like a terrible thing to say.  But when this nation attains peace and has no real problems, it's citizenry is free to let their minds wander seeking first one then another imagined ill to remedy.  Whether it's environmentalism gone bonkers or racism conferences gone postal, this nation's citizens have proven that they can't manage their lives under peaceful conditions.  Focus grasshopper, focus...

At the present time we have numberous national group psychosis (not sure if this is the proper term) in full bloom, of which this effort by the churches is only one.

Some of my favorites have been deleted, mainly, I guess because they became 'silly' and didn't pertain to politics! Sorry, but I LOVE threads like that. We all need a break and some laughter in our lives.

I have saved a lot of good memorable threads on my profile page 'links'.

I have too, Slyfox. Imaging the 'pain' when you click on some of them and find they've been deleted!! All you've got is the title sitting there in your profile!

Thanks for the pings! This looks like a lot of fun!!

Gonna bookmark this gem so I can check out ALL the links. Those I've peeked at are great!! It's neat reading threads from before the time I discovered FR.

I'm thinking, thinking, trying to trim the list down of threads I think of as classic. Soooooooooo many of them to choose from! Several from the USO Canteen FReeper Style come to mind....the Rodeo, Octoberfest, the Halloween party, the New Years Eve party, to name a few.

No. What I am looking for is the original post that someone's husband was coming in on a plane at an airport at which a fire or other emergency was happening, and therefore they were going to take a shower before heading to the airport to pick them up. It was the post that spawned the "I better take a shower now" joke.

There was another thread where someone thought that they were being sent anthrax by terrorists and took a picture of her bikini and car to prove that the package was hers!!!!

Unfortunately, that thread has been pulled. It was a HOOT.
