Trump Renews $5,000 Pledge if GOP Wins Congress

President Donald Trump on Saturday reiterated his pledge to give every adult U.S. citizen $5,000 if Republicans retain control of both chambers of Congress in next month's midterm elections, while warning of an economic "disaster" if Democrats win.

"Our country is doing so well under Republican leadership that only I can make you this promise," Trump said in a video posted on Truth Social. "If Republicans win the House of Representatives and the Senate, I'm going to give all adult citizens in the United States of America $5,000."

"But Democrat policies won't allow this to happen," Trump said. "In fact, the opposite is going to take place. They're going to raise your taxes, and they're going to destroy our country and certainly destroy our economy."

Trump predicted severe economic consequences if Democrats take control of Congress, invoking the stock market crash that preceded the Great Depression.

"It'll be a 1929 disaster if they get in," Trump said. "So, if the Democrats win, you will have an economic depression, much like 1929."

"If the Republicans win, you will each have $5,000 in your pocket and economic success for our country like we have never, ever seen before," Trump said. ***

"And remember, just recently I gave all members of the military $1,776, just like 1776," Trump said. "And everyone said that was an impossible thing to do, but I did it. Everybody got their money. I did it, and I'd do it again."

Trump said Republicans could make the payments because the government is "taking in massive amounts of money through tariffs" and because of what he called "record-setting economic success."

Trump put the cost of what he calls the "Trump dividend" at approximately $1 trillion and claimed the United States has attracted $21 trillion in investment during the past 15 months…

These $5,000 checks will arrive sometime between the DOGE Dividend checks and the Tariff Rebate checks.

The internal polling must be terrible for Trump to double down on this dubious, unfunded, and desperate vote buying scheme.

Even in Texas, it looks like the Christian hating, six genders, your boy would make a cute tranny, Talarico is giving Paxton a run for his money.

But don’t you dare criticize Trump for this or anything else because if you do you you will be kicked out of the Trump Worship Syndrome Society.

Democrats bribe their voters all the time.

Republicans who put their noses in the air and snort “We are above such tawdry tactics” are just trying to lose.

He has lots of good ideas along the way and a few bonehead ideas. This one is in the bonehead graveyard waiting to be buried.

they are now. free this, free that...

you won’t get any of it. but their voters fall for it

I do think Trump will try, but RINOs and democrats will do nothing to make it happen.

""If Republicans win the House of Representatives and the Senate, I'm going to give all adult citizens in the United States of America $5,000.""

Ok. Well that's different. He says he will give the money so presumably that means Trump himself will fund it out of his own funds. :-)

Offering bribes to voters is a crime.

He can be impeached for that and he’s quite likely to be convicted.

The Republican Congress can pass laws now. They’ll stay in effect until January 2029 at least. It doesn’t matter if the Republicans lose both the House and Senate after the work gets done.

I keep myself in both political circles so I can hear what each side says. I haven’t heard a single person express any excitement for Trump doing this. Conservatives think it’s a waste of money, liberals will take the money can continue voting for idiots.

I think there are more people disgusted by it than excited.

I was looking at Google Streetviews of Detroit earlier today.

Democratic Party policies can be devastating.

She: What kind of woman do you think I am?

He: We’ve already established that. Now we’re just haggling over the price.

I, who voted for him, quite included. Stop it, Mr. President. Stop the bloviating. The Middle Class is being hollowed out. Yes, some good things are happening, but we need economic relief. Real relief. Lasting relief. Not some wild promise that you absolutely know will never be kept. We know it too, and it’s a huge turnoff. Just like the ‘No Tax on Social Security’ BS, and all the boasting about Venezuela and Iran. We’ve had enough. Or at least I have. We need some good news. We need a reason to believe the future will be brighter. We hear the promises. We want to believe the claims. But the Truth keeps staring us right in the face: the cost of living is out of control (and has been for years), Iran looks more and more like an ill-advised attack that will continue indefinitely, and we still see no upside from invading Venezuela. Where are the lower fuel prices we were told would follow? Where are they? Why the Hell haven’t the oil companies come through for our nation after we opened up the Venezuelan market using our military? (Feeling rather pissed off today....)

“It has a bad look.”

It does. I worry that such statements may LOSE more votes than they gain.

Plus it would be bad policy. IMHO of course.
