A small explosion and fire have been reported at the Hoover Dam in Nevada, local officials and witnesses say. The exact circumstances were not immediately known.

The incident happened just after 10 a.m. on Tuesday when visitors at the dam reported seeing an explosion, fire and a large plume of smoke at the base of the dam.

The cause and the circumstances of the explosion were not immediately known. However, there is currently no indication of a threat to the dam’s structure.

“Boulder City Fire Department is en route to an emergency call at Hoover Dam,” the City of Boulder said in a brief statement. “No further information is available at this time.”

I hope there is enough water at Hoover Dam to extinguish the fire.

An explosion at the base of a dam? Me suspects sabotage from either Russian or Chinese agents who have infiltrated from our undefended southern border. I’ve been worried that if we supply Ukraine with weapons that strike within Russia’s borders that Russia may very well retaliate by doing something like this. You can be sure both countries already have many of their operatives in place in the US.

No kidding. I don’t think there’s anything short of a hydrogen bomb or a mega-earthquake that could threaten the dam’s structure, and I’m not even sure about those. If you’ve ever seen how the Hoover Dam was constructed, you’ll understand.
