A small explosion and fire have been reported at the Hoover Dam in Nevada, local officials and witnesses say. The exact circumstances were not immediately known.
The incident happened just after 10 a.m. on Tuesday when visitors at the dam reported seeing an explosion, fire and a large plume of smoke at the base of the dam.
The cause and the circumstances of the explosion were not immediately known. However, there is currently no indication of a threat to the dam’s structure.
“Boulder City Fire Department is en route to an emergency call at Hoover Dam,” the City of Boulder said in a brief statement. “No further information is available at this time.”

Probably a transformer or something. The water levels are extremely low, so I wonder if there might be some equipment that relies on water cooling that overheated. Of course, the dam thing is 90 years old, so who knows.

I can’t imagine anything naturally on site that is explosive like that.

The replacement transformer designed by woke lgbtqwerty queers with studies degrees self-immolated. The transformer was furious that the real engineers at the dam refused to use its preferred pronoun.

That is NOT a small explosion.
Also in that part of the dam, I’m pretty sure there are NO flammable objects.

Probably some type of vehicle that is burning. The fire is out on the deck, not really in the dam or even a building.

Water level is low, could be a turbine.
