OTTAWA — The House of Commons on Monday night approved the extraordinary and temporary measures in the Emergencies Act, heeding Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s warning that the “state of emergency is not over,” even though police ended a three-week occupation in Ottawa and reopened border points to the U.S.
The motion to confirm the declaration of emergency passed 185-151, with the New Democrats voting in favour alongside the minority Liberal government.
The Conservatives and the Bloc Québécois opposed it.
The vote to approve the measures will keep them in place until mid-March at the latest and the Senate must also vote on the government’s request.
At any point, the Senate, House or government could pull support and the extraordinary powers stemming from the emergencies law would be torn up.
Speaking to reporters on Monday before the vote, Trudeau made it clear that there are still protesters and truckers awaiting an opportunity to come back to Ottawa, some of which are in the towns of Arnprior and Embrun, respectively 70 and 45 kilometres away from Ottawa.

The Emergency Act makes it illegal for non-Communist groups to protest.

The only way to defeat this absolute tyranny is war. Hitler had the rule of law behind him too.

Apparently, the most dangerous place is to be between a politician and their ability to gain more power. It doesn’t matter what costs are incurred, it’s all about power for me!

Suppose the USA took the example of Putin, and decided to send troops into Alberta, the towns of Arnprior and Embrun, and maybe Quebec, to express concern about the freedom of those whose freedom is being crushed by Ottawa.
We could recognize them as being the country they yearn for, and protect them from the oppressor.

If the truckers are serious, they should call for a nationwide strike. Truckers have a lot of power in their hands. Just think how much power utility workers have. Let the trash pile up, sewers back up, electricity outages, water outages. Now you're talking real problems.
All tyrants should be watching their backs. People have had it.

They want the same thing here. With a few exceptions that’s both democrats and republicans. I’ve been saying for a long time this is a class war not a political one. It won’t be any different with the republicans in office other than they’ll hold “investigations” that will take 2 to 4 years with no real change from them.

And I thought ours is bad...
Potentially. They are unaccountable to the voters, but at the same time, they are, in theory, not as subject to intimidation via party politics by scum like Turdeau. Will be interesting to see how they vote or if they vote.
Also interesting to witness how Turdeau has made use of his emergency powers even before the votes have been cast. One would think that is illegal to say the least.

I think those in the defender class (law enforcement, military, etc.) need to be reminded regularly that if the people they work for are immoral, dishonest and corrupt, it's only a matter of time before they turn on you. Such individuals have no loyalty except to themselves. They will eventually ask their underlings in the defender class to take bullets for them and shed not a tear over it.

The votes required in seven days are a way to stop it.
The real power is in the Media, which are mostly paid for by the government in Canada, and are on the side of Trudeau.

If the senate opts not to vote to approve, are the emergency powers null? Or do they have to vote in the negative for that to happen?
