A suspected drunk driver asked New Mexico police if she could “smoke a cigarette” just moments after she allegedly caused a crash that killed a mother of four, bodycam video shows.
Jennifer Munoz, 26, is accused of crashing into and killing 41-year-old Janelle Katesigwa in Albuquerque in May, KRQE reports.
According to bodycam video released Wednesday, the first thing Munoz said to police after the fatal crash was: “Can I just smoke a cigarette?”
Munoz’s friend could be heard screaming in pain in the passenger seat.
“I would not do that right now … Let them try to help your friend,” a police officer told Munoz.

“There is no reason to drink and drive with uber around.”
Before Uber there were cabs, friends and relatives.
In years past one bar owner gave me a bed for the night and another rolled my motorcycle inside at closing time.
Hey, after you kill somebody,...sometimes you need to take a break and relax.
I shouldn't laugh but that's effn funny.
They should allow her a last cigarette, right before her execution.
When I go out which is not much.....I know I will be drinking. I will get an Uber there and a Uber back. The $50.00 is way more cheaper than a DUI.
So, do we blame the alcohol or the driver? Do we blame the gun or the shooter?
Instead of 'Chillax' it's 'Killax'.
I had a drunk man hit me one time. Minor damage. And he was shook up too.
Didn’t smoke a cigarette. But did piss his pants.
Blame the alcohol manufacterer’s raw material supplier.
Possible Illegal Alien kills Black Woman
If she didn’t ask for a cigarette I doubt this would even be on the news
Maybe we should ban alcohol. That did not work.
A recently passed New Mexico law will cite a convenience store and/or clerk that sells gas or non-liquor items to a person who is intoxicated who then commits a drunk driving offense. It’s unknown how a clerk is supposed to determine intoxication as many can appear completely rational. Also unknown is how a clerk inside a store is supposed to know how someone who purchases and pays for gas at the pump may be drunk. Lots of opportunities for lawyers to figure and fight this one out.
Liberals think that banning something they don’t like always works.
Plus the bottle manufacturer that carries the product.
LOL, was he alone? Or did he do that in front of friends and family??
Were there gasoline fumes in the air? Get the friend out of the car, stand back and let her light up.
We need to ban this dangerous drug.
I wonder if Joe’s first wife Neilia Hunter would have asked for a drink, or a joint if she hadn’t killed herself, her daughter, and seriously injured her two sons, when she plowed into that truck.
Yeah. "Here's your cigarette, and here's your blindfold".
