Trump Wins CPAC 2024 Straw Poll By 49 Points, DeSantis Second At 21%, Mike Pence Gets 0%

Trump Wins CPAC 2024 Straw Poll By 49 Points, DeSantis Second At 21%, Mike Pence Gets 0%

Mike Pence and Greg Abbott got 0% of the vote.

45th President Donald Trump easily won the CPAC straw poll asking attendees who they would prefer to win the 2024 Republican nomination for President with 70% of the vote. The only other potential candidate coming close to being competitive is Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, with 21% of the vote. The overwhelming number of potential 2024 opponents received 0% of the vote.

Voters were asked “Thinking ahead, if the 2024 Republican Primary for President in your state were held today among the following candidates, for whom would you vote,” and were given a total of 19 choices including “Other.”

President Trump won with 70% of the vote. DeSantis came in a distant second with a mere 21% of the vote. Six more candidates tied at 1%, including Sen. Rand Paul, anti-Trump former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, Sen. Ted Cruz, Fox News host Tucker Carlson, South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem, and Former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo. It may be noteworthy that Cruz received only 1% in his home state.

Trump wins the CPAC straw poll by a whopping 49 points with 70% of the vote. DeSantis a distant second at 21%.

Every other candidate – all 10 of them, plus “Other” – received 0% of the vote. It is particularly noteworthy that Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, who has repeatedly come under fire from conservatives in his own state for failing to secure the southern border and failing to protect children from chemical castration and gender modification surgeries, received 0% of the vote. Another noteworthy 0% potential candidate is Mike Pence, who has been branded a traitor to America First following his decision not to contest the Electoral College tallies from states with credible reports of widespread voter fraud on January 6 of this year. Since then, Pence has postured strongly for a 2024 run for President. This is down from the still-embarrassing 1% Pence garnered at the CPAC held earlier this year in Florida.

As National File reported at the time, in that poll President Trump received 55% of the vote, with DeSantis – perhaps boasting a home state advantage – received 21%. Cruz fared better in Florida than Texas, receiving 2% of the vote. Abbott also received 0% of the vote in the earlier poll.

Also among the 0% candidates are Ben Carson, Sens. Josh Hawley, Marco Rubio, Tom Cotton, Massachusetts Gov. Charlie Baker, former Ohio Gov. John Kasich, Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan, and anti-Trump Sen. Mitt Romney.

Bunch of dudes at 0% with Liz Cheney at negative 1%.

So there was a category called, 'I'd jump off a bridge before I'd vote for Liz Cheney?'...

I would be in that group...

It certainly is an odd place and odd people. Going through the political history of the region, one comes away with the feeling that big government isn’t alien to them. And never has been.

The cradle of American civilization doesn’t trust liberty. Maybe they wanted independence from Britain so THEY could assume the heavy hand?? Really makes one think.

Take Yankee-as-they-come Coolidge for example. As president he governed as a small government conservative, but as a governor, he was in favor of workers on corporate boards, more regulation, minimum wage legislation, etc.

Very strange dichotomy.

“Maybe they wanted independence from Britain so THEY could assume the heavy hand??”

Or maybe they didn’t want independence at all.

I know lot of New England colonists were loyal to the Crown - the American Revolution happened in spite of them.

The fact that they still proudly call themselves “New England”, and name a lot of their towns after English towns - might be an indication of how they identify.

Heck, the Boston accent sounds more British than it does American.

One could make a good argument for not wanting independence. Many of them simply didn’t want it. Those “elites” in “New England” had the strongest ties to Britain. Their merchants and traders worked with them in the export and import businesses and they really liked that cozy relationship. Many of them were angrier at the new American government than the British crown when they blockaded American ports and stopped their trade with Britain and the other colonies.

True.

Actually, Washington and his revolutionaries were viewed as domestic terrorists by many of the colonials.

The local farmers and merchants were forced to house and supply the British troops, and ensure their safe passage through their towns and ports.

As a result, Washington’s strategic attacks on the British often involved burning out the colonial farms, warehouses, factories, bridges and ports.

I’m sure a lot of the time the farmers and merchants weren’t sure which side was worse.

Of course, the colonials were a lot better off as a result of the American Revolution, but until Washington prevailed, he was quite unpopular in many quarters.

We’re getting dangerously close to labeling the founders terrorists. LOL

But seriously, the dichotomy of the region is demonstrated even then. Boston was at once a hotbed of Patriot fervor and Loyalists.

Good history lesson though!

Trump would need to take up residence in another state or else Florida electors can’t vote for both of them.

I’m really quite surprised about Pence. CPAC is a squishy moderate Republican group, hardly conservative, so I expected him to at least break the double digit barrier.

Re fraud:
That is the elephant in the room that people don’t seem to realize, still… or refuse to acknowledge.

The one, single, issue that animates Democrats to absolute fury, is the issue of auditing the election results from 2020; that tells you all you need to know. They have their Talking Heads and sycophants working overtime on all of their talkshows, calling it “The Big Lie”…

There should be one litmus test for every GOP candidate next time: were there INDICATIONS that the 2020 Presidential race & GA senate races involved SUBSTANTIAL fraud?

That way you don’t have to flat-out say “it was stolen” but do have to admit that there is a POSSIBILITY it was stolen.
