A series of forums on race offered at Sandia National Laboratories left at least one lab employee miffed enough to send an email blast to the entire staff voicing his displeasure.
And the upset electrical engineer appears to have caught the attention of the White House, which last week in a memo told all federal agencies to stop hosting similar training sessions.
Last month, Casey Petersen, an engineer, sent an unauthorized email to all lab employees denying the existence of systemic racism and aspects of white privilege and criticizing recent race-based training seminars at the labs.
About two hours later, Sandia National Laboratories responded with a Special Announcement telling its employees the email wasnt an official communication and not to open or view it.
Several right-leaning news sites and think tanks have covered the conflict. The Tucker Carlson Tonight talk show on FOX News devoted several minutes to the topic last week.
Petersen was placed on paid administrative leave shortly after he sent the email. He has since returned to work on an uncleared status, which means he doesnt have access to classified information. And he is the subject of an ethics investigation.
The White House Office of Management and Budget on Sept. 4 issued a memo that referred to some of those press reports. The memo said federal agencies have spent taxpayer money to put on trainings that were divisive, anti-American propaganda.
The memo directed agencies to identify and cancel contracts that bring racial sensitivity training that includes teaching critical race theory and white privilege at federal facilities, according to the memo.
Critical race theory is, among other things, a view that laws and institutions are inherently discriminatory against people of color.
Sandia has declined to comment on the matter.

You need to be taught why other races hate you and that you should hate yourself too. Be more empathetic.
Critical Race Theory teaches Hate101
Where are the right-wing civil rights attorneys taking this individual’s case pro-bono for wrongful termination? Crickets.
I already know that. I’ve always known that.
They hate me because I’m beautiful! :)
I worked for a large computer company from the late ‘70s to the early ‘90s. It was in the early days of this stuff but we had various “sensitivity” training sessions from time to time. One of the last ones before I left we had the management staff of the group I worked in. The session was run by our HR lady (black). Somewhere in the early part of the session she asked each one of us a question and asked for the first thought. “What do you think of when you see a Puerto Rican?” The fellow who got the question answered “body odor.” The session ended there. I don’t recall any retribution.
The next company I worked for was much smaller with quite conservative management. Every year the HR dept would send a 1/2 page memo to everyone basically saying “treat everyone with respect.” That was it.
Oh this will get interesting
...and modest!
Whoever authorized the critican race training and whoever penalized the whistleblower, and whoever approved of them, needs to get a freaking boot up the arse and shown the door.
Even white people hate me for that. :)
One can only hope!
Yeah. Now that you mention it, I do, I rilly, rilly do!
He did not lose his clearance for the protest. He lost it for demonstrating poor judgement in send his presentation to everyone in the lab.
That crap would have gotten you in trouble at my offices as well. The employees dont own the email system. The company does.
Agreed
It has been happening for years. It started under Obama.
Aw, shucks. You don't have to sugarcoat it.
All together now..
Oh, Lord, its hard to be humble
when youre perfect in every way.
I cant wait to look in the mirror
I get better looking each day
To know me is to love me
I must be a hell of a man
Oh Lord its hard to be humble
But Im doing the best that I can
Critical race theory is a form of blanket racism against a group of people. It is as flawed an argument as reparations.
Theyre online now
You know me!? Gee, you’re not that poor, miserable wretch that lives down the street are you?
You should stop by sometime. I’ll show you my photo albums. :)
“It has been happening for years. It started under Obama.”
it started way before obama. back in the early 70’s HR in federal agencies were tracking minority hires and promotions and the stats had to look a certain way otherwise the higher grade bosses wouldn’t be looked on favorably for promotions or bonuses. there were affirmative action plans written to ensure that a certain percentage of women and minorities were hired and promoted each year or the manager could kiss his advancement goodbye.
1) Don't draw attention to yourself
2) Don't rock the boat
3) Don't make career limiting moves.
I have checked off all those boxes long ago.
Little more than a year ago, Corp sent a email about a change in format in our documentation program and asked for input...
Input.. that I did. Documentation and screen shots with "Circles and arrows and a paragraph on back describing each"
What I pointed out affected every field tech in the country, not just me.
Corp replied back; "We are sorry that YOU are having a problem"
I had shown my big boss that email going out for approval, he said looks good.
I showed him corp's reply...he just shook his head. Yeah, my electronic dossier must be pretty big.
