When Wei Sun, a 48-year-old engineer at Raytheon Missile Systems, left for an overseas trip last year, he told the company he planned to bring his company-issued HP EliteBook 840 laptop along.
Sun, a Chinese-born American citizen, had been working at Raytheon, the fourth-largest US defense contractor, for a decade. He held a secret-level security clearance and worked on highly sensitive missile programs used by the US military.
Since Suns computer contained large amounts of classified data, Raytheon officials told him that taking it abroad would not only be a violation of company policy, but a serious violation of federal law, as well.

Ping.
This is exactly why they are willing to do this. He should be put to death for treason, period.
The article suggests the Chicoms are keeping tabs on former citizens, meaning that they are recruited after leaving China. I think they know who they work for from the very beginning. Why they would help out a bankrupt political system and not cast their lot with the US is beyond me. Therefore just don’t hire them.
If he changes his plea to guilty and cooperates give him five years off a life without parole sentence.
They know. Often the recruiters will appeal to their affection for the ‘mother country’ and the ‘homeland’. Some of them fall for it fairly easily.
Now that is what I call, "thinking outside the box."
Bravo!!
They don’t “fall for” a damn thing. WE fall for it. He should never have been here or at Raytheon.
The Chinese service uses race as their wedge into getting a recruitment.
He needs to be punished severely.
I’m guessing though, that there are Chinese here that are being threatened by foreign assets, maybe being told that their loved ones in China will be hurt Unless they Spy.
But it’s still a crime.
If you’re a US citizen, you don’t betray your country.
I do not believe the data was classified as it would be illegal to be on a regular computer. The data was prohibited by ITARS from being exported outside the USA.
Ran into a lot of issues with ITARS going to/from Iraq via commercial air carries, for example checking body armor in your luggage constituted an ITARS violation.
However, this case appears to be intentional. Hang em high.
It would be racist to observe he has a racial, cultural and national attachment to China.
I have been saying since the late 90s...No more chinese allowed to work in certain tech fields. so solly. Screw them. And raytheon should be fined a billion dollars for their utter weakness and stupidity.
bttt
He should go a Wei where he sees no Sun...
Yes, for anyone but Hillary that is.
Where I worked secret documents were stored in a safe.
Two people had to be there to open the safe and to sign documents in and out.
i was thinkin more like 3 days off IF he’s a good boy in prison, but give him a frontal lobotomy first before releasing him
That’s how you will stop this.
Punish the CEO’s and the bottom line.
They will pay attention to that.
