It took just a few days after the stunning defeat of Obama's attempt to fast-track the Trans Pacific Partnership bill in the Senate at the hands of his own Democratic party, before everything returned back to normal and the TPP fast-track was promptly passed. Why? The simple answer: money. Or rather, even more money.
Because while the actual contents of the TPP may be highly confidential, and their public dissemination may lead to prison time for the "perpetrator" of such illegal transparency
....
fast-tracking the TPP, meaning its passage through Congress without having its contents available for debate or amendments, was only possible after lots of corporate money exchanged hands with senators. The US Senate passed Trade Promotion Authority (TPA) the fast-tracking bill by a 65-33 margin on 14 May. Last Thursday, the Senate voted 62-38 to bring the debate on TPA to a close.
Those impressive majorities follow months of behind-the-scenes wheeling and dealing by the worlds most well-heeled multinational corporations with just a handful of holdouts.
...
The result: it took a paltry $1.15 million in bribes to get everyone in the Senate on the same page. And the biggest shocker: with a total of $195,550 in "donations", or more than double the second largest donor UPS, was none other than Goldman Sachs.
....
Seven Republicans who voted yea to fast-track and are also running for re-election next year cleaned up between January and March. Senator Johnny Isakson of Georgia received $102,500 in corporate contributions. Senator Roy Blunt of Missouri, best known for proposing a Monsanto-written bill in 2013 that became known as the Monsanto Protection Act, received $77,900 $13,500 of which came from Monsanto.

I always thought prostitution was illegal, except in Nevada. At least in some cases, the poor lady is trying to survive so at least there is a purpose to it as bad as it is. Congressmen on the other hand are selling this country down the river, that makes it much worse, at least the young lady I mentioned is not doing that.
A quick and straightforward fix to this would be a law that requires all (ALL) lobbying for or against a bill bar contributions to any campaign or political organization. Alternatively, ALL contributions made at any time and in any way related to a bill before Congress must be made to the general fund/citizenry as a whole. This would apply for a period from introduction of the bill until ten years following final vote on the bill.
You’re right.
Reminds me of the 1987 movie Wall Street (I), when Bud’s father played by Martin Sheen walked out of a meeting remarked: “I don’t go to sleep with no whores and I don’t wake up with any. I don’t know how you do it.”.
These words can be applied to the Senate equally as well.
Absolutely nothing regarding the TPP has passed.
The TPA IS NOT the TPP.
The author is a lying sack of excrement.
Zero Hedge is a den of foul mouth retards, PaulBots, Goldbugs, and anti Semites.
It’s the financial version of InfoWars.
First, such a bill would have to be drafted by someone. Second, who would vote for that if it cut off the purse strings to themselves. Very few I doubt.
While a good idea, I seriously doubt it will ever happen.
SHOW ME THE MONEY
The author also misstates the facts when he says that the bill will not be available for” debate or amendments”. The bill can and will certainly be debated. It must then pass on an up or down vote.
Did these Senators accept money from Goldman Sachs? If that’s true, the source is irrelevant. It’s important we know how sold-out those Republicans who traitor us at every turn are.
You would apparently back a 9/11 Truther’s account, as long as he said 1+1=2 somewhere in his diatribe against Bush.
YES or NO....did these Senators accept money from Goldman Sachs?
We can’t tell when a blatant lie is the basis.
What do you trust out of Brian Williams’ mouth after he lies??
The senate is full of cheap and easy whores and they are proud of it’s a shame people don’t remember things like this at election time.
For now, they are most concerned with two issues:
1. Investor Protections versus protections for labor(union), environment, and social welfare. The corporatists are insistent that the investors be protected from "creeping taxes" that are masquerading as a labor regulation or environmental regulation.
2. Certainty that the Arbitration Panel has the authority to resolve disputes that may arise over these protections, and that the internal judicial systems are required to "honor" the decisions made by the Arbitration Panel.
You’re wasting your time. The remnants of the old Buchanan Brigade are still here campaigning for protectionism and union jobs.
Do managing directors of Goldman accept money from Goldman? /s It's a sad but true disqualification for the Presidency in my mind.

The Senate PASSED the TPP bill, which is still secret, and any senator who discusses it is liable for criminal prosecution. How that can be allowed is beyond comprehension. This is tyranny.
