The New York Times had a reporter talking to attackers on the ground during the Benghazi attacks that killed four Americans in September of 2012, including U.S. Ambassador Chris Stevens, and may know the identity of some the murderers and perpetrators.
David Kirkpatrick, the Times reporter who wrote the story that forced the paper's Editorial page editor to defensively declare on Monday that it has not chosen to endorse Hillary Clinton for president in 2016, said that the paper had a reporter on the ground who was witnessing the attacks.

I am just wondering, do they really think we are this stupid, just sending this crap out day after day. No, but you know there is an audience they attract who willfully believe their shinola.

I am going way back, but does any FReepers recall a televised discussion between a group of reporters during the Vietnam War? In that discussion they were asked if they were with the VC and an ambush was about to happen on American troops would they intervene to warn the American troops. One of the network anchors actually said as a journalist they felt obliged not to warn them.

I just mentioned that show to my wife after reading this earlier this morning. Yes, I remember the show, I think it was on PBS. The journalist actually said something to the effect that he wouldn't warn the US troops because he was a journalist and not an American soldier.
Later in the discussion, a former Marine lieutenant (who was in Vietnam) was asked if he was evacuating an area by helicopter (ahead of the enemy overrunning the LZ) and saw some US journalists coming, would he hold the helicopter for them. His answer was that he wouldn't wait because he didn't see any Americans, just journalists.

I *think* it was Peter Jennings.

Same as my memory. Back of my mind I want to say it was Firing Line, with William F. Buckley.

I was working at their building in NYC when one of their journalists was abducted in the Middle East. There was a large amount of wailing and gnashing of teeth of the person.
They sure didn’t like it when I didn’t display concern and commented that if you go to a warzone voluntarily to take war pictures and get hurt that I am not going to feel sorry for you.

Anyone remember the early, early claim of a camera across from the mission that captured the attack? Could that be the NYT reporter? I am still wondering where the video feed from the drone aircraft is and why it has not been released.

Their reported could only take notes and photos between the times he was shooting at the Americans.

If he focuses on this like he is on jobs, he should be able to get to the bottom of it in a century or two.
