The darnedest thing just happened on TV. Still happening. Obama takes Clinton to the White House press briefing room. Turns the podium over to Clinton, and leaves the room. If you didn't have the sound on your TV, it looked like Obama resigned and handed over to Clinton. Clinton still talking, setting up dueling filibuster with Bernie Sanders. Clinton at that podium is bad deja vu.

NO it doesn't. Although she is currently next in line for the Presidency, she does NOT automatically become VP if Biden steps up. Joe would have the duty to select a new VP and have the choice confirmed by the Senate. Nancy would still be the Speaker (until Jan 3) and only if Joe then became unable to serve would she assume the office of President if Joe had not gotten a VP confirmed in time. On Jan 3rd, substitute Boehner for Nancy in that equation.

He has been for awhile, but it isn’t talked about in the Press. I believe it is his heart. My dad had a really bad heart(5 by-passes at one time) and near the end he was quite feeble.
Anyone still think Hillary is not going to run?

BO was awful happy to hand the Presidential podium over to President Clinton. I guess BO has finally worked out the terms of his pardon by President Billary.

Even if he could serve another two years, Obama cannot just appoint him president. His only option is to resign and then we get Biden.
I think he has a heart condition. He’s 64 yrs old but looks about 75.
I don’t think a two term ex-President can serve as VP since he is not eligible to serve as President.
As a former smoker, you have far more insight into it than I have. All I know is that the smoker I was close would periodically have a craving that Could Not Wait. But as you say, with Obama it might or might not have been that. He may just have been totally irked with BC for doing effortlessly what Obama needs a teleprompter to do just so-so...or worse. Put two full blown narcissists together at the White House podium, and anything can happen.
There is nothing in the constitution that prevents it. The understanding would be, that because of the two term limit, he could assume the duties of the VP, but should the President die in office, he would step aside and allow the next person in line of succession to assume the presidency. It is theoretically possible.
Certainly resignation is the best option, for him personally, and for the nation.
However, the power that would flow to our enemies from, shall we say, a more definitive solution to the problem means that we should be constantly aware of the possibility.
These thoughts have been nagging at me since Obama was elected, it is convenient in so many ways. I pray that doesn't happen.
True it is possible. It would lead to a Constitutional crisis which is what they have been working towards. IMO
