Palin's doing a nice job tonight in her Hannity appearance tonight

Posted on 11/22/2010 7:17:11 PM PST by cycle of discernment

Very much in command of the facts, quick, firm and clear.

A bit less folksy, yakkity blather and more to the point with a more 'serious' demeanor. Which is good.

If I could give one word of advice to this talented and quick-minded woman, I would tell her to rachet down the bubbly quotient slightly.

She needs to be perceived as serious.... blending with her natural accessibility and warm personality.

She needs to occasionally set her jaw in conviction without breaking into the girly smile and deliver her obviously deeply held positions with authority.

She's got the content down 110%, if she'd just add more seriousness to her delivery...the trick is, such seriousness can't be contrived and should not replace her natural ebullience, wholesale--she needs to retain her authenticity--but a serious tone should be an additive feature, unflappable and strategically deployed.

Sarah could also use a makeover.
She needs to dress more appropriately for her age. As much as I hate to say it I agreed with David Letterman when he said she resembled a stewardess. She should especially get rid of the leather jackets and skirts and tone down the gawdy jewelry. The spike heels should get tossed, too. Sarah could take some fashion pointers from Nancy Pelosi. Although I don’t like her politics, her clothes are another matter. Her suits (Armani, I think) scream quality. When I see her I don’t see a 70-year-old woman, but a top executive.

Thus far, I have stayed out of the Palin threads. Does anyone think that the best move would be for her wound be VP in 2012?

The Reagan Revolution was not the sea change it could have been, because GHW Bush was VP. Let’s solidify the succession.

For the top slot, I’m liking DeMint.

but my wife will not listen to her speak.

I can't listen to her for very long either. So high-pitched and shrill. It's like an ice pick to the ear drums.

You’re right, she can’t put the Genie back n the bottle, but she didn’t open it: The LSM put her family out there in 2008.

Notice all the attacks on Sarah from posters we’ve never seen on here. Most are ones that registered in 2008.

Ummm... I don't think anyone is "attacking" Sarah Palin. Quite the opposite. I think we all respect her Conservative values, her love and respect for America, her guts in protecting our Constitution, and her Reaganesque principles.

What some of us are discussing is her verbal delivery process, nothing more. Others among us might want to step back and realize that she's human, not a goddess.

(FYI, I've been a FR member since 2001.)

I don’t see these kind of comments ever used for male candidates.

it is sexism. thats the truth

Really? I'd bet there isn't one single FReeper who wouldn't like to see the likes of Margaret Thatcher in American politics. Maybe you're too young to know who Margaret Thatcher was, or too old to remember. LOL

Furthermore, perhaps you forgot Howard Dean's (he's a male) infamous "Dean Scream" that went viral.

Have a nice day. :)

All negative all together.”

I don’t understand your post. It is a little too cryptic for me. Would you elaborate

“We are stuck right now with an un-documented usurper, who was elected because he is “black” (actually, mixed-race), voted into Office via 95% of the black voters wanting a 2-year promoted “black”, and by white-guilt voters trying to show they’re not “racist”, and by the nearly $1 Billion propoganda/Union organized/taxpayer-funded Community Organizer vote fraud and “gimme-gimme” mentality.”

I agree with you about the white guilt voters and the unions. Obama got the support of the leftist MSM and the unions.

However, blacks comprise about 12% of the population. Ninety-five percent of that number could never elect any president.

imo, SP did well. Hannity, however, was extremely disappointing. All he did was bring up other pundits’ quotes and asked her to respond to what everyone knows is pure slime. He should concentrate on asking her policy questions so she can get her chops down.

"blacks comprise about 12% of the population. Ninety-five percent of that number could never elect any president."

Au Contraire, Mon Ami. When only 35% of the population votes in an election, and the blacks vote IN NUMBERS, you have a near 50/50 split of D's and R's, anyway, and they (blacks and illegals, combined) to tilt the Election one way....towards freebies.

If all eligible voters were voting, then your point would be accurate; but since 2 out of 3 eligible voters stay home, and a LOT of Conservatives have no one to vote for, it results in the lackluster/weakest being elected (let alone the ineligible).

Read this thread word for word. Would things like “too shrill” and “too folksy” EVER be said about a male candidate.

Before you get carried away here, I can't count the times that someone said or wrote that Steve Forbes wasn't attractive enough. Even you've commented on Bobby Jindal's slight build as being detrimental, so how is that any different?

WOW! I am impressed. That is so sophisticated; so continental. However, I would like to explore something you said. It is my understanding that there was a much higher turnout of voters, especially conservative, Tea Party types, than there ever has been.

I know that was the case where I live. We swept 14 out of 14 races. We booted every Democratic incumbent to the curb and defeated every Democratic candidate. So there may have been more than 35% of the people who voted nationally.

Secondly, you sound as though great numbers of illegal aliens voted. I would like to see/hear about, any documentation you have confirming that assertion. I am fully aware of the slimy machinations of ACORN and the unions. I also regret the unfortunate tendency of my people to rely so heavily on handouts from the government. But they are not alone. Did you ever watch the Caucasian trailer park citizens on Cops?

They do not understand that welfare has never been anything except a trap intended to keep blacks and others in poverty and voting for Democrats. They don’t understand because public education fails, deliberately, to educate. All of America’s children who go through that system are dumbed down and subjected to revisionist history.

This has resulted in a work force that is largely incompetent. Try to do business with clerks, secretaries, fast food workers, etc. It is enough to make you want to cry.

I apologize. I have come off subject, but I do get wound up when I consider what has been done to our country. You of course may be right. I am just not ready to accept your argument. No hard feelings whatsoever. We can still disagree in America. Of course that might change if Obama gets a second term. (Smile)

"my understanding that there was a much higher turnout of voters, especially conservative, Tea Party types, than there ever has been."

This was a MID-TERM election, and the numbers of minority and Leftist voters was diminished overall, HOWEVER, in the Democrat-dominated inner-cities, and in the Southwest, the results were typical. Harry Reid's win is a prime example of what the illegal and Union GOTV effort can do. A long-term incumbent there could not be un-seated, due to the efforts of GOTV of their prime voterbase. Because we do not allow documentation or proof of Citizenship to vote (we can't even get photo Voter ID in Dem. strongholds), votes of law-abiding LEGAL American Citizens are negated and offset by illegals and Fraud.

Hopefully, gerry-mandering in areas that are sliced/diced to produce Democrat wins will be un-done by new Republican majorities, which have have a major impact on Local and State representation, but what needs to be done is to Repeal the Senatorial Election process back to having State legislatures select the U.S. Senate candidates, instead of the multi-million dollar special interest promotions we have now (on BOTH sides). We The People have little opportunity to have quality candidates to support, as they can't get past the super-funded choices of The Party.

Sharon Angle, Christine Odonell, and other Conservatives were FINALLY able to win some Primaries, but the State-Run-Media, Unions, and corporate funding kicked in and smeared and over-powered their efforts in the Election itself. The power of Government Employee Unions cannot be under-stated, and there should be NO Unionization of Public Employees allowed, at ANY level of Government. There is no excuse for those who are employed by the taxpayer whereby they need Unions to protect/negotiate/extort their benefits and pay, nor should the Gold-plated pensions and benefits be at the levels that dwarf the private sector anymore. This has caused the fiscal messes in Kalifornia, New York, and Illinois, and is the near ruination of other states, as well. Likewise, Teachers do NOT need Unions (except to protect them from being removed when they are incompetent).

My experience of several decades of dealing with Bargaining Unit people is that the purpose of the Union is to allow un-qualified people to live on Seniority, and where their skills and work habits would get them fired easily, the Union Rules prevent them from being identified and removed.

After reading your response, one thing is certain. I share your views when it comes to unions. Especially public service unions. All unions have outlived their usefulness. Today and for years past they have been nothing more than extortionists gangs run by criminals.

Everything you say about mid-terms, gerry-mandering, etc, is accurate. I am very much involved in the local Tea Party. We, as well as people all over this country, did not relax when we decimated the Democrats in local elections. We are choosing individual members to select one elected official, state and federal, to monitor.

Every Bill brought forward by these people will be scrutinized from inception and through every step in the process. We will be asking these politicians questions about co-sponsors and the rationale involved in bringing the Bill.

As far as cities are concerned, most of them are cesspools run by Democratic Party, corrupt, incompetent political hacks. I spent my life in Philadelphia. Ed Rendell, former DA and Mayor of Philadelphia termed out and the next Governor is Republican.

The state legislature has always been a counter weight to sleazy Democratic Mayors in Philadelphia, especially when it comes to gun control legislation. There are lots of Blue Dog Democrats in Penna. when you get away from the cities. I think that many of them have returned to the Republican Party.

It sounds as though you believe that there is nothing that can be done to stop illegals from voting. Can you document that? Of course there is voter fraud, but I am not willing to conclude that things are hopeless and nothing can’t be corrected. If I believed that I wouldn’t be working as hard as I can to change it.

Of course you are free to do whatever you choose. It would really be sad though if a person as politically savvy as you conceded the field to that bunch of criminals in the cities.
