Palin's doing a nice job tonight in her Hannity appearance tonight

Posted on 11/22/2010 7:17:11 PM PST by cycle of discernment

Very much in command of the facts, quick, firm and clear.

A bit less folksy, yakkity blather and more to the point with a more 'serious' demeanor. Which is good.

If I could give one word of advice to this talented and quick-minded woman, I would tell her to rachet down the bubbly quotient slightly.

She needs to be perceived as serious.... blending with her natural accessibility and warm personality.

She needs to occasionally set her jaw in conviction without breaking into the girly smile and deliver her obviously deeply held positions with authority.

She's got the content down 110%, if she'd just add more seriousness to her delivery...the trick is, such seriousness can't be contrived and should not replace her natural ebullience, wholesale--she needs to retain her authenticity--but a serious tone should be an additive feature, unflappable and strategically deployed.

you know if you attacked her for her core beliefs/policies not many on here would say you have PDS. They would most likely call you a liberal but not have PDS.

It is the inability of the haters to talk about policy and instead focus on personality tics and mannerisms to the exclusion of policy and positions that signal the PDS call.

i would love to debate a Mitt supporter about Romneycare vs Gov Palin’s position on healthcare. But sadly for some unexplained reason the haters don't want to talk about romneycare, or Tarp or immigration. they want to discuss why Palin is an ugly person. I wonder why?

That’s twice you’ve dodged that question. Do you favor Romney over Palin? Why won’t you answer this question???

I also notice that many of the pot stirrers signed up in Nov of 04 and 08 election years. Makes me think they are establishment GOP operatives.

Listen to other politicians, news casters, etc. If you want to be taken seriously, you need to speak in a manner that is serious.

I don't take other politicians or newscasters seriously. Now what?

Along with most here in this thread, I think you are spot-on. This is exactly what it will take to move her from the beloved of conservatives to respected by a large enough percentage of moderates & independents to get elected.

The media warfare against her will only intensify. But her best counter is to come across as more serious, less folksy - like Michele (my belle) Bachmann.

Like others here, you’ve expressed my thinking for some time. I’ve been hoping some of her advisors would get this message to her, and maybe they have......thanks for the post.

"If she can only handle herself with a friendly host, what makes anybody think she can handle herself in a REAL negotiation with a real adversary with real consequences?"

You've got to be kidding! Where have you been??? This isn't the 1st time she's been in the public arena - did you forget (or not know) that she was Governor of Alaska? Don't you remember how she took on the good ole boys there? She's been taking on 'REAL adversaries' her whole political career. C'mon, YOU get real. Geeez!

Sarah was right on. She is a blessing because she is centered in the Lord. She honors the truth that sets free.

???

Calm down. O.K., I just finished my stogie, and a fine one it was. It takes an hour, just ask Rush.

Do I favor Romney over Palin? No.

These are relevant observations, but my advice to Sarah would be "Don't change a thing! Continue to be yourself. Your genuineness and substantive content will more than compensate for any stylistic deficits. If it ain't broke, don't fix it."

Just my humble opinion...

Your version of BDS or PDS looks to be contradicted by this from WIKIPEDIA

"the acute onset of paranoia in otherwise normal people in reaction to the policies, the presidency — nay — the very existence of George W. Bush".the term indicates a belief that some extreme criticisms of President Bush(Sarah Palin) are of emotional origins rather than based on facts or logic.

So criticism of her speaking style is fair and proper. I and others here, have added that Margret Thatcher had a similar issue. She realized it was hindering her political power and made the effort to correct it.

If you are lumping me in as a "hater" of Palin, you are mistaken. I have no disagreement with her health care, fiscal or immigration policies, and admire the job she did as Governor of Alaska.

Sarah could also use a makeover.

She needs to dress more appropriately for her age. As much as I hate to say it I agreed with David Letterman when he said she resembled a stewardess. She should especially get rid of the leather jackets and skirts and tone down the gawdy jewelry. The spike heels should get tossed, too. Sarah could take some fashion pointers from Nancy Pelosi. Although I don’t like her politics, her clothes are another matter. Her suits (Armani, I think) scream quality. When I see her I don’t see a 70-year-old woman, but a top executive.

Sarah also needs to shorten her hair, tone down the highlights, and get rid of the BUN, even if it is her trademark. Long hair is for schoolgirls, not middle-aged women that want to be taken seriously.

"I am convinced that feelings like this are one of the largest reasons for her support.

The MSM tried to destroy her. So we all supported her.

But that does not make her Presidential material.

"Feelings" like what?

She is vocalizing the sentiments of those who want the Constitution to govern the country; rather than have interpretations that circumvent and trample it. Likewise, common sense, a way of life absent governmental interference, and values that reflect those we have lost in the new generation of "victimhood" and "we have RIGHTS" are what she represents, too.

"We are living right now with what happens when you elect someone who isn't qualified just because they loved him."

We are stuck right now with an un-documented usurper, who was elected because he is "black" (actually, mixed-race), voted into Office via 95% of the black voters wanting a 2-year promoted "black", and by white-guilt voters trying to show they're not "racist", and by the nearly $1 Billion propoganda/Union organized/taxpayer-funded Community Organizer vote fraud and "gimme-gimme" mentality.

Popularity of the current occupant was fabricated by the Hollywood-type hype, and when a Maxine Waters, Alcee Hastings, Charlie Rangel, Sheila Jackson-Lee style black is running, they can count on the black vote to give them a job. That's all there is to it.

So long as you're only source of income and freebies is other-people's-money, you will vote for the gravy-train candidate, period.
