Palin's doing a nice job tonight in her Hannity appearance tonight

Posted on 11/22/2010 7:17:11 PM PST by cycle of discernment

Very much in command of the facts, quick, firm and clear.

A bit less folksy, yakkity blather and more to the point with a more 'serious' demeanor. Which is good.

If I could give one word of advice to this talented and quick-minded woman, I would tell her to rachet down the bubbly quotient slightly.

She needs to be perceived as serious.... blending with her natural accessibility and warm personality.

She needs to occasionally set her jaw in conviction without breaking into the girly smile and deliver her obviously deeply held positions with authority.

She's got the content down 110%, if she'd just add more seriousness to her delivery...the trick is, such seriousness can't be contrived and should not replace her natural ebullience, wholesale--she needs to retain her authenticity--but a serious tone should be an additive feature, unflappable and strategically deployed.

does she have to start talking like a male politician from New York to get elected ?

She’s not prissy enough to do that.

Nah, we are not entitled to being negative on Palin. The Palin bots on FR will hunt you and haunt you down.

I think you raise some legit points. Talking away with the Fox people can only get you so far.

The interesting thing is that I haven’t seen many mentions of that Quinnapac poll on here that Drudge is linking. The one that shows Romney and Huckabee tied with Obama and Palin trailing by 8 points.

I don’t care at all for Huckabee or Romney, but the point being that Sarah is not viewed well by 60+% of the electorate. She’s got to figure out how to reach people outside the Palin base to win the Presidency. Hannity interviews and puff pieces with her flying in a plane over Alaska mountains won’t do it. Frankly the whole plane flying thing from the TV show last week reminded me of Triumph of the Will.

Exactly. She needs to go through the trial by fire, not the trial by Sean.

She ruled that out today by ruling out another interview with Coric. She is scared that Katie will “spin” bad stuff about Palin. Really?

If she runs for President I think she will be serious, but at the same time she needs to be who she is. If she tries to do many other things, she will be going through motions instead of being what got her to where people like her now IMO.

“Well, she’s got 5 kids to raise, so maybe she’s too busy.”

Possibly, but I’m sure she has plenty of time for a PDSr’s advice.

“But that does not make her Presidential material.”

She would be an absolutely superb Secretary of the Interior under a Rubio/Jindal or Rubio/Christie administration.

She said tonight that she will never go on another interview with someone like Couric, it is a waste of her time.If that's the case, then she can have Sean interview her for the next two years. SO if she happened to get elected and travels overseas, that will really strengthen her mettle against the likes of Putin, Ahmadinejad, or Wen Jiabao.Sarah, your not serious.

Hmm....Strange that a conservative I guess you are would find Katie Couric serious and important!! Sarah doesn't need CBS, CBS needs Sarah.....an Couric interview will only benefit Katie & CBS who has terrible garbage ratings, doing a Couric interview doesn't make one special or Presidential, NBC, ABC, CBS are NOT the only gatekeepers of media anymore -- let them beg and kiss ***.....on Sarah term I'm tired of conservatives or Republicans talking like we have to bow down and Kowtow to the MSM on their terms and let them spin us anyway they want...being nice to them and not attacking Obama too much will get respect from them and then they will backstab conservatives in a flash!!! Get REAL!!

LOL, no PDSrs like you constantly talk negatively about Palin

But some without cojones think they should be allowed to attack without response. So if you can’t grow a pair, try the Romney site.

Loosen the wad in your pants.

I mention she needs to improve her communication skills - along with about half the folks who've posted on this thread - and I've got PDS? Grow up.

I watched her show last week and it was an enjoyable travelogue. But as I thought about how she was a major candidate and using it to position herself, the Triumph movie came into my head as we seemed to spend half the show watching Palin up in the clouds on different aircraft.

I remember in college watching that film in a history class. All I can recall from it was Hitler flying around up in the clouds and over the mountains. After watching it we talked about the imagery and role of the plane, the chosen one coming down from the skies, how Leni Riefenstahl was ahead of her time in the use of media, etc., etc.

As a lot of you guys have said, Palin needs to get out there and mix it up. The election of an “image” was 2008. 2012 is going to be about substance.

Romney troll alert!

Palin is a deeply polarizing and opportunistic person. We don’t need that nightmare after the nightmare of the most polarizing Obama. No, I am not a Romney fan. Although, if the only two candidates running are Palin and Romney, I will hold my nose and take Romney. 8 posted on Thursday, September 16, 2010 2:16:54 AM by indianrightwinger

Mrs Palin reminds me of the Confederate Battle Flag controversy we had here in SC several years back.

Gov (later US Senator) Hollings, along with our Legislature, decided to fly,in commemoration of the 100th anniversary of our starting the War Between The States, the Confederate Battle Flag over the State House Dome because our ancestors (I had two) fought the lost cause with bravery, honor and incredible sacrifice.
We were always fully aware that slavery was the root cause of the war but the vast vast vast majority of Confederate soldiers fought the war for their states, homes and people and the Battle Flag was chosen BECAUSE it represented the warrior spirit of the South ALONE and not any political or social issue.

Well even after the 100th anniversary of the END of the War Between The States passed nobody thought to take the banner down. Many years passed, the flag kept flying and then some out of state liberal idjit looking to be offended was riding through Columbia and just happened to look up and then asked his liberal buddy, “Whazzat? Is that the KKK headquarters?”
“Nah,that's the State House.”
‘Pull over,I want to ask them why they flying that racist rag over a guvmint building!”
After it was explained to the rude interloper that the flag hasn't been removed because the most elusive item in the South to catch is the “roundtooit”—the idjit exploded.
Then and there in hot umbrage the liberal foreigner screamed that he had powerful friends and that rebel swastika had better COME DOWN RIGHT NOW!!!
Well, first of all it was a flag that honored our glorious heritage and second who the heck was HE to tell us what to do—hell that was a big reason we STARTED the damn war—damned demanding Yankees.
Up til then whether the flag flew or not was no big deal—but when some stranger DEMANDS it don't fly OR ELSE!!! oooh,it's gonna fly for sure now.
The fur started really flying as we dug in our heels and even though we finally moved the flag to the Confederate Memorial it weren’t enough so the NAALCP is STILL boycotting our state—though the childish act has had little if no effect.

Anywhoo—Sarah Palin was a sweet virtuous Christian conservative woman we could take or leave before 2008—you know, one of us but nobody to create a cult for—but when liberal idjits attack her out pure ignorance and meanness—just like our flag—well,we are diggin’ in and THIS time we ain't gonna let the bastards win even an itty bit!!!

GOD BLESS ROBERT E. LEE!!!

As has been said before and by others, she can't hide behind Hannity's skirts.

She needs to get grilled but good and be able to successfully answer her adversaries in a calm, and professional manor. If she wants to lead the U.S., she will need to be strong and articulate. There is no better way to gain that edge than debate her opponents and vanquish them in the public realm. That means gong on shows you don't like and she'd rather not.
