Palin's doing a nice job tonight in her Hannity appearance tonight

Posted on 11/22/2010 7:17:11 PM PST by cycle of discernment

Very much in command of the facts, quick, firm and clear.

A bit less folksy, yakkity blather and more to the point with a more 'serious' demeanor. Which is good.

If I could give one word of advice to this talented and quick-minded woman, I would tell her to rachet down the bubbly quotient slightly.

She needs to be perceived as serious.... blending with her natural accessibility and warm personality.

She needs to occasionally set her jaw in conviction without breaking into the girly smile and deliver her obviously deeply held positions with authority.

She's got the content down 110%, if she'd just add more seriousness to her delivery...the trick is, such seriousness can't be contrived and should not replace her natural ebullience, wholesale--she needs to retain her authenticity--but a serious tone should be an additive feature, unflappable and strategically deployed.

That’s right. If any one brings up her kids all she has to do is point to the Alaskan TV Series and say it speaks for itself then take the discussion in a different direction.

The public would understand and accept this approach.

We love her Conservative Reaganesque politics and her love of America, but my wife will not listen to her speak.

We watched the latest Alaska show an hour ago, and my wife came to that same conclusion.

About half way through that show I was beginning to fast forward.

If she doesn't change, she will never get past being a media/political pop star. If she wants to go for the top office in the land, she needs to act like a top officer of the land.

Wow, I’m so glad Sarah did a good job tonight? Not that you could tell it by this thread.

Was watching DAvid Frump on the other channel about how much he and the rest of the establishment hate her. They all seem to think the Tea Party movement is over, they hope.

Pray for America

My observation: The best presentation I have seen her make...no teleprompter, no cue cards...powerful to the point and taking the issues straight to this President like no other potential candidate...and, by the way, my wife agrees with me.

All I see in this thread is a lot of mysogyny.

Here is what I said to my wife this weekend....

Sarah Palin needs to lower her voice, speak slower and more deliberate, stop ending so many words on a high note.

Listen to other politicians, news casters, etc. If you want to be taken seriously, you need to speak in a manner that is serious.

“She’s got the content down 110%, if she’d just add more seriousness to her delivery”

She could do that by appearing on other shows besides talking points Hannity. Why isn’t she discussing QE2 on CNBC or FBN I don’t understand.

Sarah doesn’t need to “lose” or stop anything, but she I think that setting of her jaw and seriousness will come if and when she decides to seek the Presidency.

Agreed. Let her be lighter now; she's very effective currently in explaining conservative stances in a down-to-earth way.

If she gets serious about the Presidency and wants to appeal more to Indies and bluedogs she can develop more gravitas. She knows what she's doing.

Peaking too early is not a good thing.

Great. Now we have Republicans playing the gender card.

I am so glad you posted this. I was thinking about this a lot lately as a matter of fact. I think that Sarah Palin would go much further if she acted a bit more distinguished, than the “gee golly, Oh my” soccer mom that she passes herself off as.

She needs to be the American, 21st century equivalent to Margaret Thatcher. She’s also good when she’s “cocky” to the news media, and full of truth that actually relates to people. Obama’s so disconnected he’s unreasonable. After all, Obama and his staff are not subjected to the drastic changes his policies inflict on people. At any rate, I loved how she took complete control of her interview with Chris Wallace, and when she sticks to facts and issues, I like her all the more.

We need more of that in her.

Oh please, that is like the left calling anyone who doesn't agree with Obama as a racist.

I have said that for a long time. I will know that she is serious when she sits down for another interview with Katie Couric, Charlie Gibson and the editorial board of the New York Times.

Facebook, Tweets, Hannity and O'Riley is not going to cut it.

She needs to stick her head in the lions mouth and be able to hold her own if we are to trust her as president.

Read this thread word for word. Would things like “too shrill” and “too folksy” EVER be said about a male candidate.

No.

I don’t see these kind of comments ever used for male candidates.

it is sexism. thats the truth
