Very much in command of the facts, quick, firm and clear.
A bit less folksy, yakkity blather and more to the point with a more 'serious' demeanor. Which is good.
If I could give one word of advice to this talented and quick-minded woman, I would tell her to rachet down the bubbly quotient slightly.
She needs to be perceived as serious.... blending with her natural accessibility and warm personality.
She needs to occasionally set her jaw in conviction without breaking into the girly smile and deliver her obviously deeply held positions with authority.
She's got the content down 110%, if she'd just add more seriousness to her delivery...the trick is, such seriousness can't be contrived and should not replace her natural ebullience, wholesale--she needs to retain her authenticity--but a serious tone should be an additive feature, unflappable and strategically deployed.
Well said.
I had the same discussion with my wife over the weekend.
Very well said.
Content=A+
Delivery=C-
If she is talking about her family she is on defense and not offense.
She needs to just tell reporters her family is off limits.
for a second there i thought you were MY husband! haha! he and i had the same discussion over the weekend!
Sarah doesn’t need to ratchet down anything...enthusiasm is contageous!
She’s doing fine. I enjoy less-than-morbid discourse, which is sorely needed. She is always upbeat, straight-talking, and does a fine job of shrugging off the 2+ year 24/7 assault by the State-Run-Media.
She's a natural political talent, and she won't jump in unless she thinks she can win. If she doesn't run, she will be a voice for conservative principles.
I thought she did great, and so refreshingly different from the more "seasoned" politicians. Case in point, I just heard Greta interview Rick Santorum, trying to ride that middle fence. The contrast was quite stark, and Santorum came away looking weak and boring.
There's just no one out there right now that is so unabashed in articulating conservatism is such a forceful and positive light. She's a tiger, and everyone else right now is the mouse.
Do you work for the department of redundency department?
=)
Politics, the art of manipulating perception and timing. I doubt that her delivery was slightly familiar by mistake. She is far too smart to turn off the people who like her folksiness and hit them with a polished attack. She laid down markers to say, you betch’a I know the material. There’s a good 10 months for her to craft that polished message. Nothing is successful politics is by accident.
We have had this same discussion around our home. You are spot on.
Too funny.
Sarah has to get more serious. She can’t win a general election unless she does. She may have a hard time winning the GOP nomination unless she does.
The goofy, folksy thing for me is getting kind of old.
You may be her die hard fan, but she must widen her appeal to gain enough traction to be a viable candidate.
She has been cast as a chattering airhead—relentlessly, unmercifully, by the liberal media, merchandised to millions of uniformed, shallow voters....her name is a pop culture joke in many circles. It is “in” to ridicule her.
This is pure unadulterated CRAP orchestrated by the unsavory and vicious leftist media, but nevertheless it has made a deep and possibly indelible impact.
Palin has to be VERY impressive at every turn now to neutralize these slanderous portrayals.
A tall order, maybe an impossible one.
And nothing her nemesis, Obama, he of “57 states”, would ever have to endure. Ironic, since he is a one-man gaffe machine and the media must work tirelessly, 24/7, to protect his ‘brand’ always under assault from his own stupidity (yes, the man is STUPID, slickly packaged).
Today’s foolish mainstream media is a rank and wretched virus.
I'm sorry, Balata, as much as I support Sarah, when she put her family on a reality show, they became "public property". No getting that Jeanie back in the bottle.
It’s called a typo. Quirky thing that happens to a frail human like me sometimes.
I am convinced that feelings like this are one of the largest reasons for her support.
The MSM tried to destroy her. So we all supported her.
But that does not make her Presidential material.
Love the tiger bit but she MUST speak with more authority.
We are talking about the most powerful office in the world.
I thought she did very well. I hope that folks realize that part of that interview was the CD version of the Author reading the verse. Why can she not speak of her family?
A Mother’s number one job IS her family... the rest is extraneous, I don’t care what that woman’s career is.
Mama Grizzlies are just that.
End of story. Where did all of these “holier than thou’s” come from?
As my sainted Mother used to say...
“Everybody is a critic”.
Very good observations. I think you’re right — Sarah doesn’t need to “lose” or stop anything, but she I think that setting of her jaw and seriousness will come if and when she decides to seek the Presidency.
She can’t escape being who she is — she is authentic, folksy, and “bubbly.” But when she’s confronted with seeking the highest political office in the world, I think we’ll see ice water in her veins — the kind of look in her eyes that can only come from a woman who’s sighted in a predator down the barrel of a 30-30 and pulled the trigger.
Some might make sport of her “Mama Grizzly” metaphor — but if you’d ever seen what a mama grizzly was capable of in protecting her cubs, you’d know just how capable this woman is of setting her jaw, looking a problem, or an adversary, right in the eyes, and saying “I don’t retreat, I just reload.”
No, no one else in the field (as of yet) comes close to Sarah. Not at this point. That might change. But right now, Sarah has a powerful and persuasive message, an excellent record of endorsements and wins, and best of all, she has both the Republican establishment and the Progressives in the media and the Democrat party scared slam too death. That’s ENOUGH for me to know who the “frontrunner” IS — or ought to be.
