Viacom networks MTV, BET and CMT are giving an hour of free air time to President Obama less than three weeks before the midterm elections.
The so-called A Conversation with President Obama will be live and commercial-free on six Viacom networks at 4 p.m. on Thursday. The networks will not give equal time to a Republican before the election, according to a spokeswoman.
MTV denies that the Obama hour of TV is political, despite the timing, weeks before the midterm elections.

The whole thing is a huge waste of money. No one is going to change their mind based on what this punk says.
It doesn't work that way.

I remember the exact date I stopped watching MTV. It was August 1, 1981. I was at a party at a friends house and the intro to “You better run” from Pat Benatar started playing. Friend says you missed the first song.
After the video ended we all looked at each other and tossed Zeppelin 4 on the record player.

They're obeying their corporate parents...I hope they get HUGE pushback from this stupid maneuver.

Same here.
That much human stupidity on display was too much for even me to take. I could see one or two "music scene" type shows to let fans know who was cutting a new album or planning a new tour, but Big Brother? Jack Ass? Re-runs of That 70's Show?
Big ol' WTF there... Go back to playing artsy-fartsy POlice videos and weird hard rock hair bands.

YES!!! It is EXACTLY the “Town Hall” meeting that has the associated casting call.

"Sumner" Murray Rothstein once again uses the tentacles of his sprawling media empire to attempt to affect U.S. elections in a leftward direction.
But of course it's "non-political".

The most damning sentence in the whole article:
"The White House conceived of the concept and asked for the commercial-free TV time, according to Viacom."

*Were not giving an hour of free time to the president to freely express his views. Were hosting a town hall with 250 young people to ask questions of the president...*
Why not just have 250 automatons from Disney World sit and nod their heads in agreement while the POTUS talks?
I imagine it will include a lot of stuff like this:
“Right now, I'm devoting a great deal of time and study to that problem. And I intend to issue a position paper on that. A position that is at once simple, yet complex, flexible, and above all else, fair to every American.”
“I, um, I , um, ya know, Bush wasn't articulate, ya know, um, like me. Um, I mean, like, come on!”
“Bush's fault!”
“We can't afford to have two more years of failed economic policy! Erm....um...that's not what it's supposed to say...I mean 8 more years of failed policy of which that last two years don't count...um...er....would that be 10 years of failed policy?.... (long pause) minus two...I guess.......CAN'T SOMEBODY GET THAT THING WORKING AGAIN!!! WHAT DO I PAY YOU PEOPLE FOR!?!?”
“The most important thing to remember is, that if anyone, for any reason disagrees with me or my policies, that's racist.”

They're trying to take over the Internet without a legal mandate, for God's sake.
