U.S. Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer has expressed a willingness to ban protesters from burning the Koran as the modern day equivalent of shouting fire in a crowded theater.
The Supreme Court has ruled burning the American flag in protest is protected speech under the First Amendment of the Constitution.
Breyer spoke to George Stephanopoulos on ABC's Good Morning America today:
But Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer told me on "GMA" that he's not prepared to conclude that -- in the internet age -- the First Amendment condones Koran burning.
Holmes said it doesnt mean you can shout 'fire' in a crowded theater, Breyer told me. Well, what is it? Why? Because people will be trampled to death. And what is the crowded theater today? What is the being trampled to death?
Breyer is promoting his new book, Making Our Democracy Work.
Breyer was appointed to the Supreme Court in 1994 by President Bill Clinton.
Maybe this is the way to get some respect, seriously. In the un-churched, non-christian world, strength and threat of or actual violence is the only thing they respect and understand.
Since the courts and our various governments don't look after our rights as Christians, this could be the answer. It seems to be working for the moooslems.
Oh, by the way, did George Step-on-all-of-us issue any type of challenge to Breyer’s lunacy???
So, he admits that Islam is a terrorist organization and by “protesting” via burning the Koran, the result would be the deaths of poeple?
Shouting fire if the theater is actually ON FIRE is a good thing.
Maybe burning a Koran and risking such a worldwide violent backlash - for burning a book - is like alerting people that the “theater” of Western civilization is in danger. therefore the act, like ACCURATELY shouting “fire” in a crowded theater, saves lives.
I am right, and Breyer is a horse's ass. Q.E.D.
Precisely. The law is for when there is NOT a danger. It is for injuring people unnessarily in a fabricated panic.
On the other hand, people (the ownership) can be held liable for NOT shouting Fire when there is a fire.
Breyer is failing to distinguish between a real warning versus a false warning. Since he is admitting that Americans will be injured by vengeful mohammedans for burning the page of a book, then he is admitting there are hair trigger people out there. Therefore, there SHOULD be someone shouting, "BOOK!"
Not doing so is what should be a chargeable offense.
And Breyer's words put in perspective all the weak-kneed CINOs from last week who whined at those willing to stand up against the mo-cult murderers so they wouldn't be offended.
That enabled Breyer to read weakness as assent to stripping us of free speech.
They won’t ban flag burning or Bible burning because they equate koran burning with shouting fire in a crowded theater. Yes, he is right. One wacky pastor threatening to burn koran’s on 911 brought calls for worldwide executions of christians from our friendly peace loving muslim brothers. What liberals refuse to do is call the terrorists what they are. They continue to cow tow to threats, we are up a creek if we have to endure this much longer.
After decades of performers like Marilyn Manson tearing up Christian bibles at civic owned venues in concert.
After years of Ian McKellen boasting of tearing out passages critical of homosexuality in the bibles found in hotel rooms.
NO. HELL NO. I will NOT bow to Islamic “supremacy”.
Islamic theocracy and laws of blasphemy are UNCONSTITUIONAL.
Unseat this justice NOW.
And if that guideline is foisted on the internet, then how long before "hurt feelings" and "diminished self-esteem" are the same kind of "hurt" that prohibits free speech?
Saudi Arabia prohibits Chrisitan bibles by law and burns them every year. This administration is silent on the matter.
This is the establishment of Islamic Sharia as the law of the land.
The burning of the American Flag and Bibles causes me anxiety and severe emotional distress.
Think I have a case??
This administration stands with those who threaten violence.
Actually, I was speaking less metaphorically. Take my gun and the creative weapon between my ears can create a "deadly weapon" from almost anything. From the ingredients I find in my kitchen or my garage I can make napalm, chlorine gas, all manner of explosives (with or without shrapnel) and the list continues. From there it's just a matter of practicing the time honored military tradition of TRADE UP. If I have a knife, I can GET a handgun. If I have a handgun, I can GET an M249 Squad Automatic Weapon (SAW). All I need is a starting point and the "getting" is unlimited. Tanks, mortars, whatever. So you see, they really don't want to let slip (in the words of Shakespeare) the old war dogs if they can help it.
He's a-ok with Christian Bibles being desecrated in public owned venues.
It's pure Saul Alinsky.
They taint ALL tea partier and all pro-lifers with the "accusation" of violent rhetoric and actions.
Stalinists lie. ALWAYS.
The new congress needs to modify the appointment system to remove life time appointments. Then some of the problem children could be disclipined.

Let me see if I've got this straight:
- Burning the Holy Bible - protected free speech.
- Burning the American flag - protected free speech.
- Burning the Holy Bible - the equivalent of yelling "fire" in a crowded theater.
This is possibly the most illogical rationale for pandering to the Islamofascists that I've ever heard.
Shouting “fire in a crowded theater” creating a stampede for the exits is a normal reaction of all peoples in all cultures. The burning of religious books and symbols does not fall within this test. And you’d think the Justice would get this. How dumb.
Pull this unconstitutional tyrant off the bench.
