Five Morgan Hill students sent home for wearing American flag T-shirts

2:11 PM By Lindsay Bryant

Five male students were asked to leave Live Oak High School this morning because they were wearing American flag T-shirts on Cinco de Mayo. Officials at the school could not be reached for comment, but one student said administrators called the T-shirts "incendiary."

"They said we were starting a fight, we were fuel to the fire," said Matt Dariano, a sophomore.

The five teens were sitting at a table outside during their brunch break around 10:10 a.m. when Assistant Principal Miguel Rodriguez asked two boys to take off their American flag bandannas that they were wearing on their heads. In the same conversation, student Dominic Maciel said, Rodriguez told the group to "walk with him to the office."

Dariano called his mother Diana, who spread the word to the other parents and all arrived soon after to have a conference with Rodriguez and Principal Nick Boden.

Maciel said they were told they must turn their T-shirts inside-out or be sent home. Maciel said they were told it wouldn't be considered a suspension but Rodriguez did not want any fights to break out among Mexican students and the group showing their American pride.

The boys said they thought turning the American flag inside-out was disrespectful, so all went home.

Dariano said Rodriguez indicated to him that while other students were wearing American flags, the group of five was "the easiest target to cause trouble."

"We were not going to start a fight. We wanted to show our pride," Dariano said. "In light of all of this, there are people with painted flags in red, green and white and yet the boys can't wear the American flag," Diana said.

I would sue that freakin’ school so fast — in federal court — for denying my right to free speech.....

****************************

People need to be aware that the officials can sometimes be sued in their own private capacity as well.

Desstroy them as individuals, impoverish their fmilies and blight their futures. THAT will give them more pause than skimming the institutions they take cover in.

It’s a globalist elite ploy to destroy patriotism, since it is the enemy of their one world order.

They are not blind, just pandering to the globalist elite controlled government. Think of the MSM ownership. Who owns the mainstream media? Big Corporations! Some of the reporters even have ties to one world order social clubs such as Bilderberg, CFR or TriLat.

We live in sorry times when the American flag is considered incendiary. Perhaps Mexican-Americans should lighten up and accept the symbols of their adopted country.

I’m sure the school does the same thing with Che t-shirts.

ANOTHER REASON TO HOMESCHOOL

This ping list is for the “other” articles of interest to homeschoolers about education and public school. This can occasionally be a fairly high volume list. Articles pinged to the Another Reason to Homeschool List will be given the keyword of ARTH. (If I remember. If I forget, please feel free to add it yourself)

The main Homeschool Ping List handles the homeschool-specific articles. I hold both the Homeschool Ping List and the Another Reason to Homeschool Ping list. Please freepmail me to let me know if you would like to be added to or removed from either list, or both.

I thought Cinco de Mayo was just another excuse to party and get tanked.

I’m not sure wearing American flag t-shirts is in keeping with proper flag etiquette anyway - but that’s a whole different problem than the one involved here.

My work uniform has a US flag on the shoulder. Suppose that's a problem?

I'm not an expert, but I think shoulder patches on uniforms are a specific exception.

It is. Mexicans don't celebrate it. It was mostly dreamed up by owners of Mexican restaurants and purveyors of alcoholic beverages. And it works. It's the biggest single revenue day for Mexican restaurants of the year.

F Cinco de Mayo. One successful battle in a war they ultimately lost.
Hardly something to be proud of.

So was anyone wearing the Mexican flag? Were THEY sent home "to prevent fights"? Why isn't that considered incendiary? I'd think it would be more "incendiary" to display a national flag in someone else's country than in the country to which that flag belongs.

More than 100 students were spotted wearing red, white and green as they were leaving school. Some had the Mexican flag painted on their faces or on their arms.
Some Mexican-American students said that their flags were taken away or asked to be put away, but none were sent home for wearing red, white and green.

Hundreds were "inciting" confrontation, but only those 5 wearing the American flag were sent home? If I were a parent of one these five, I would sue the school.
