It's guts ball time for an Army surgeon who has vowed not to deploy to Afghanistan with his unit unless President Obama provides evidence that he's a "natural born" citizen of the United States.
In response to previously published statements by Lt. Col. Terrence Lakin, the Army presented an official letter of counseling that directs him to report to Fort Campbell, Ky., on April 12 to begin deployment preparations with his unit.

give this guy an honorable discharge. I f he really doesn’t want to go over there...don’t send him. this doesn’t happen that often...can you say FT Hood?
its just not worth it...the guy may be legit, but this is no place to take chances.
You insist on calling “birthers” “cuckoos?”
He should not throw away his career for this. The decision whether or not to follow deployment orders is not the proper forum to address the birth certificate issue.
probably more to the story
Philip Berg, Alan Keyes, Orly Taitz - is there a sane person among them?
As retired from an Army career, I would not fall on my sword as this LTC is literally doing by going for courtsmartial over the issue. I think the entire birth certificate non-release issue is a deception plan/red herring to cover up something else in BHO’s past.
I’m on the doc’s side, but the army really doesn’t have much maneuvering room here.
Now, if we can get massive support for him out here on the net, might make a diff.
However, prepare for the normal MSM smear job.
I am curious why military.com’s editors thing the Lt. Colonel is bluffing.
He may be wrong, foolish, or heroically patriotic, but I see no evidence he’s bluffing.
What is their recourse if he continues to refuse? A Court Martial, which will open up discovery? Hmmmmm?
Not a winning strategy. His deployment orders don’t come from the President, they come from his commanding officer. Only the officer who got the orders from the President would be able to challenge those orders.
The orders aren’t unlawful, congress authorized deployments, so he couldn’t argue that either.
Secret Service could refuse to take a bullet for the President unless he proved eligibility.
Sí.
Ping
His superiors?
I see. So the failure of the Pres__ent to merely produce a certified copy of his birth certificate, thus fulfulling a Constitutional requirement, makes the rest of us crazy?
Sure makes sense to me.
Thank goodness my two deployments to OIF were under Bush 43 so there was no question as to his being a legitimate CIC.
If you want to follow Berg, Keyes, and Taitz off the cliff, be my guest.
They are all sane. These are, however, insane times.
Thank you.
A doctor told me that what he may be hiding is his legal race. Apparently at the time of his birth, a child of mixed race was designated to be the race of the mother, which would list him as white.
