UNREAL. Obama May Allow US Soldiers to be Tried in the Hague

Unreal. Team Obama may allow US soldiers to be tried in the Hague for war crimes. The Wall Street Journal reported, via Jihad Watch:

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton expressed “great regret” in August that the U.S. is not a signatory to the International Criminal Court (ICC). This has fueled speculation that the Obama administration may reverse another Bush policy and sign up for what could lead to the trial of Americans for war crimes in The Hague.

The ICC’s chief prosecutor, though, has no intention of waiting for Washington to submit to the court’s authority. Luis Moreno Ocampo says he already has jurisdiction—at least with respect to Afghanistan.

Because Kabul in 2003 ratified the Rome Statute—the ICC’s founding treaty—all soldiers on Afghan territory, even those from nontreaty countries, fall under the ICC’s oversight, Mr. Ocampo told me. And the chief prosecutor says he is already conducting a “preliminary examination” into whether NATO troops, including American soldiers, fighting the Taliban may have to be put in the dock.

“We have to check if crimes against humanity, war crimes or genocide have been committed in Afghanistan,” Mr. Ocampo told me. “There are serious allegations against the Taliban and al Qaeda and serious allegations about warlords, even against some who are connected with members of the government.” Taking up his inquiry of Allied soldiers, he added, “there are different reports about problems with bombings and there are also allegations about torture.”

It was clear who the targets of these particular inquiries are but the chief prosecutor shied away from spelling it out.

Asked repeatedly whether the examination of bombings and torture allegations refers to NATO and U.S. soldiers, Mr. Ocampo finally stated that “we are investigating whoever commits war crimes, including the group you mentioned.”

Impeachment? It would never get into the committee’s business much less out of committee.

Tell me how great 0’b is again, I forgot, comeon now, one of you suckers who voted for him must know.

I don't recall anyone voting for Obama at FR. Funny that. We had a huge arugment about the candidates during the primary season, many disliked McCain's poltics, but I don't recall anyone saying "Obama is my guy". Maybe there were some lurkers, but none of the posters said it.

I think some few people may have voter 3rd party or abstained, but even that was rare. Most everyone said "holding my nose and pulling the lever for McCain".

I know I did.

“THIS could lead to some unrest here.”

Congress would not care.........I mean the “tea parties” are just mocked and the left could care less about anything we “wing nutz” say. Just look at Holdren and how he is giving bucks to ACORN. I honestly do not know what it would take (peacefully that is) for them to take us seriously.........

that would be an impeachment offense.

Only someone who is out of touch with reality can possibly think there will be any impeachment of this administration. They have super majorities in both houses, and the courts are packed.

I know the source is questionable. It is documented elsewhere and appears to be legit. http://www.thefire.org/article/11322.html

“A program proposed at the University of Minnesota would result in required examinations of teacher candidates on “white privilege” as well as “remedial re-education” for those who hold the “wrong” views,”

There are lots of domestic political reasons why Obama would not sign the Rome Statute. To begin with, there’s congressional hostility, so as a pragmatic political matter, there’s a question of whether Obama would take on the political heat for what would amount to be a symbolic gesture. Second, there’s going to be opposition from the American military in the same way there was before. And then thirdly, the US has more troops abroad than any other country so feels more exposed to charges, trumped up or not.

Fourth, he does not have anywhere near 67 senators to ratify such a treaty.

Fifth, even if he did, it would be political death for them and Oba Mao if they did.

Keep pussy footing around till you get a few million Americans killed, all in D.C. hopefully. Alfred E. Neuman could have told 0’b what to do when a Bin L. says he’s going to kill mllions of us. ‘’Spread the nukes around, set to go off 1000 ft. above ground.’’ Make them sue for peace. If a turd like Bin L. says we’re at war, you better damn well believe it and win it.

This business of the Seals and sending American troops to trials in the Hague, this might be an issue for the Tea Party movement to take up. The good people of our military, who have protected us, now need OUR help—I hope this gets to the street in due course.

Anyway, I’m babbling on now a little - but I’m angry, too...

None of what you say is babble. We are all angry and I for one just about can't take it anymore. We can only hope people wake up before November, 2010, but I feel as you do, it is going to take a real national crisis to wake up the masses, mainly the youth. The brainwashing has been constant since the 60's - so subtle and well done. You see it every day on every channel on TV. Have just about given up TV here except FOX. By the way, anyone else sick of those subliminal Progressive Insurance ads? I heard the head of Progressive is a real lefty, so probably the ads from him or funded by Soros. They on a Lot.
