Major Cook's request not to go to Afganistan was "granted". As a reservist he has the right to revoke his deployment orders and doesn't need a lawyer. (That may be true, but it misses the point of his request.)

The TRO stated Major Cook is ready and willing to deploy as long as he knows the deployment order is legal.

Somebody will need to set this up separately. There is such a thing as a ‘fiscal sponsor’ - whereby one non-profit can sponsor another group...does anyone have a relationship with a non-profit, whereby we could setup such a fund?

I am the past president of a non-profit corporation. Non-Profits cannot accept donations for any specific individual nor can they solicit such. Non-profits can do things for the general welfare.

We as individuals, however, can make a gift to that individual. None of this is tax deductible. That is what my friend is going to do... $1000 as a gift to him to help support him and his family as they experience this retaliation for daring to question the anointed one.
